Sources tell us Austin Thomas will be the new director of player personnel at LSU. A few weeks ago Thomas had been courted away from USC where he worked the past four years to join the staff at Bowling Green; but now we hear he's headed to Baton Rouge. LINK

He was Ed O's right hand man at USC and is a grind-it-out kind of guy, perfect to sit next to Frank Wilson

Serious question , don't hate on me for asking but what exactly does directed of player personnel do? Recruit? And manage scholarships?

Someone feel free to correct me, but I think they are a little bit of everything but mostly scouting/recruiting. They keep tabs on which recruits are being recruited by LSU (and other schools), sort through recruit film, coordinate scouting, strategize visits and also monitor the retention and progress of current players.

The position is basically the assistant to Frank Wilson or the recruiting coordinator and plays a huge role in recruiting with all the contacts and coordination. Also a huge role when kids are on campus. The guy we lost was a beast with kids on campus
