NCJIM: Per EJ Holland, he posted this on the LSU board:

I talked to a couple of sources close to Cherry, and they both told me Cherry was leaning towards the Tigers before his visit. He was completely sold after it. Coach O really impressed him and won him over. Cherry sat down with his family this weekend and after talking with O, they decided to just go ahead and pull the trigger. One source said Oklahoma was the biggest threat to LSU and added that they are still going to work to flip him. But the consensus is Cherry will stick with LSU.

BTW, I spoke to a parent of another elite recruit this week, and he told me that O blew Tom Herman out of the water when I asked him to compare his LSU/UT visits. That has been the trend. O is doing a phenomenal job in the state of Texas and overall.

The LSU board is having a little fun at Coach Stoops expense.

They are still weak at the QB position, but on another thread, there was a suggestion that they may come after Rising.

For whatever reason, it feels like we have more head to head recruiting battles with LSU, than UT or A&M this cycle.

Those guys are some salty. Ou has LSU beat in wins? The last time they won a championship was in 2000. Salty arse fans

If O wins, will be impossible to beat him in recruiting.

Yes, the winning will just be the icing on the cake, that's the only thing left to do. They win out this season with a bang and the recruits will take notice and come even more so. Show these elite offensive recruits that the offense is for real this season because that's what they really want to see. They are so used to seeing LSU as this run heavy boring no tempo offense that they think it will be more of the same, well, Canada will show them the new LSU offensively and they will be shocked.

But also events like Pro Day shows how huge of a program LSU has become, they get the attention of top HC's and GM's to attend and only a handful of programs can do that. I like how they've been kicking Oklahoma's and Texas' butt in recruiting in Texas because those two schools used to dominate Texas.

Count on O winning. He and his success will usher the exit for Saban in the next few years-if not sooner.

O is going to win plenty. The only question is how much. Aranda guarantees we stay near the top.

O is making 3 mill + up from around 800k. Aranda is making top NFL DC money and learning how to recruit......I know everyone expects Aranda to jump ship, but he's making top dollar, and learning something. I think he rides his contract of 3 years out.

Yea that's what I was saying. Let O get it righted, win some big games, then hand it off to Aranda. LSU has to look like a long term place at this point to him I hope.

I don't think anyone will go anywhere until we win a championship or they give it their best shot at it anyway. They want to turn this thing into something special IMO why else would they have come, then stay, all signing multiple year contracts? They not going anywhere. They are all doing a fantastic job and I think O has this LSU HCn thing down as long as that fire burns I think he will be successful. HTT

They said Stoops couldn't outrecruit anybody on their staff but they must have meant outpay. Let us know how Jacob Phillips likes playing in the Taxslayer Bowl every year.

They are still salty.. and we have still never played (at least recently to my knowledge) in the taxplayer bowl

What's going to happen with recruiting if we start winning?

The only reason why the OP would ever start this thread.

Obviously we have to pay to get a kid from Austin Thomas' stomping grounds here, we simply had no connection other than money...their mods spread all sorts of nonsense about this when Phillips finally flipped. How we had to have paid for him and they were so blindsided by this when everything was pointing towards Phillips flipping here, they just didn't want to admit it was going to happen, or even a real possibility.

Maybe Phillips decided he didn't want to go play patty-cake football in the Big 12 and go to a school that has one of the best LB coaches in football to get developed into a draft pick and position in the NFL. Not to mention we now have, what, 8-9 LBs in the NFL? Oklahoma has 3 and only 1 even plays.
