True but anyone who believes bama is his 4th team is fooling himself. If they are not 1 they are a close second. We will also see his tone change about Florida when they end up losing 4-5 games down the stretch

As long as LSU continues to pursue all other options at LBer and not let this long shot cost them time recruiting more realistic chances

I'd keep a closer eye on Dontavious Jackson and Jeffrey McCulloch as far as OOS linebackers are concerned. We've jumped into Dontavious top group and McCulloch has always liked us. While they aren't a package deal, getting Dontavious would make us look that much more appealing to Jeffrey. And then there's Rashaun Smith who we might lead for. I think we're going to have an insane finish at LB. I could easily see us taking 6 linebackers.

If Beckwith goes pro, we will have the following scholarship LBs:

Duke Riley - Sr and almost guaranteed starter

then

Ronnie Feist - Sr who has struggled to see the field
Devin Voorhies - Jr converted safety who hasn't played much this year
Donnie Alexander - Jr who hasn't played much this year

How are guys like him not drooling looking at that? Even if he isn't ready, he is almost guaranteed to play a good bit as a freshman on one of the best defenses in the country. If he works like Arden, he has a legit chance to start as a true freshman even if we stay with the 2 LB look we have used alot this year... I don't have any sort of information on him, but unless he has been a Bama fan his whole life, we seem like the obvious choice. Then again I am a recruiting homer

All of this. And he has been playing middle linebacker this year. At 6-2 242 with his athleticism, he could possibly start inside next year. If not, he'd start on the outside as well.

LSU has 3 LBs doing good in the NFL in Minter, Riley, and Kwon. That should solve his pro problem as well. He says he wants to play the money position, and we should be running some 4 LBs next year if we get enough good guys. Right now, I think we are running a lot more 2 LB, because the others are just not good, and we have better talent and depth in the secondary.

But isn't he a Bama legacy, or is that the other one?

That's Ben Davis.

Just to keep things going and to have a little fun during a down time in recruiting, how do you think the numbers shake out if we do take six linebackers (which I think we need).

What So assuming we have three Linebackers: Anthony, Thornton, and Fowler (I don't think Chattman ends up in the class) and we've can sign 28 who do you think we end up with.

The possibilities look pretty good. I'll star my opinions.

We lose Chattman and Culp. Back to 16.

DL - Manuel
Gary*
Lawrence*
Gooden*
Dexter Lawrence
Stephon Taylor
Ross Blacklock

LB - Raushaun Smith
Mack Wilson *
Ben Davis
Jeffrey McCullough *
Dontavious Jackson
Divinity *
DeJon Harris
Travez Moore

DB - Fulton *
Mullen *
Anderson
Meyers

OL - Jauan Williams *
John Simpson *
Greg Little
Willie Allen

WR - Leflore-Criss *
Drake Davis
Stephen Sullivan *

What say you?

Not to be rude, but you seem to be a little out of touch with current events... and whats the deal with losing Culp?

Not going to speculate losing anybody, so I will go with the 27 number

QB
Franks

WR/TE
Anderson
Coxie
Pettigrew
*Davis/Chriss/Sullivan

OL
Savage
Campbell
*Little (not sold on this at all, but it's a possibility)

DL
Alexander
Roddy
Logan
*Manuel
*Gary
*Burns/Gooden
*Lawrence/Taylor/Blacklock/Davis

LB
Thornton
Fowler
Anthony
*Divinity
*Davis/Smith/McCulloch/Joyner/Jackson

DB
Smith
Williams
Lewis
Monroe
*Fulton

ATH
Chattman

S/T
Culp

If we do however, lose Chattman, an extra LB is likely who we go after, or an athlete like Devin White.

We've had some great DB classes, but damn, this is just filthy.

It's amazing what Miles is doing in recruiting. He is recruiting the right kids to come in immediately and play with the maturity of seniors as freshmen and sophomores.

I can't emphasize enough how Miles is not the man laying the groundwork for these kids. The position coaches, and basically everyone under Miles are the ones laying the groundwork, along with a few players.

This kid is being recruited by Frank Wilson AND Kevin Steele who are two notoriously great recruiters....and add in a good relationship with Fournette, THATS why he wants to be at LSU. Miles will get to seal the deal, but everything up until Miles gets his few visits is done by the other coaches.

I dont for a second believe this kid is going anywhere but Alabama, regardless of who we have in his ear. It would be nothing short of a miracle to pull the top LB not just in Alabama but the country from the grasps of Alabama. Unless I am severely underestimating Kevin Steele's inroads on the recruiting trail in that state. We know Frank Wilson can put in good work, but there are some situations with certain factors he just couldn't possibly overcome, but Steele may give us a puncher's chance.

In the end, it'll be Alabama.

What are the current events I'm out of touch wit? I put Mack Wilson out there because I'm the only one tooting that horn, so I figure I'd lean into it. Maybe Sullivan and Mullen are a stretch at this point as well, but I think the rest of my list is reasonable.

I forgot about Joyner, but I'm not banking on him.

If all of our top remainders want in, maybe Culp gets pushed to a grey shirt. You're right, knowing how we recruit, we probably won't pull schollies from Culp and Chattman, but there is still a lot of recruits we could get.

I guess a more realistic list would be

DL- Manuel
Gooden
Lawrence

LB- Divinity
Moore
McCullough/Joyner
Harris

DB- Fulton

OL - 2 surprises

WR - Criss

I'm so tired of Les hating. Give the man the credit. Yes we have great position coaches, that he hired and he empowers, like a great head coach should. There are constantly these underhanded criticisms of him and I'm just so tired of it. If we weren't getting the recruits, let me tell you it would be all Les' fault. He would be a total idiot. Things are going well enough now that we can give credit to the position coaches, and ignore him. That's just wrong.

Les is a great coach, period. Perfect, no, but the who the hell is. He represents our school with class and pride, is loved by the players, and consistently wins on a level this school has never seen. You will all be crying when he is gone. I hope we get another coach like Saban or miles, but there is no guarantee. Enjoy the good years and give the man some credit.

I believe the assistants do a lot of the dirty work, but Miles closes the deal! He is one of the best in the business

I'm not naive enough to think that Miles does all the talent evaluation and leads in recruiting all these kids. But he has put a framework in where we do a good job bringing in high character kids who can come in and play right away and build our brand as an NFL factory.

It didn't just happen accidentally.
