And you can only test the waters once. If he comes back, then he will not be able to do it next year.

What's this rule for? I'm sure there's a reason I'm just not thinking of.

Because there are some benefits that come with it. Teams can fly you in for workouts, etc. I'm sure they don't want players taking advantage every year.

if I'm sampson i wouldn't even try
Posted on 3/29/17 at 10:46 am to TheCaterpillar
It probably has something to do with the kids missing school to train and participate in the pre draft stuff. I'm not sure how all that works with their academics when they decide to test the combine then return.
Sampson was a top 50 recruit, he probably never intended on staying for 4 years. In all sports some guys are dead set on leaving early. We see it all the time in football where a 5* doesn't live up to the hype but still leaves as a junior

From the numbers, doesn't look like a homerun signing addition, but does he play defense?

Where did you find these stats on him from? These numbers are much better than the ones I've seen

The NJCAA site is actually pretty damn good where it comes to stats.
Here's San Jacinto...

Appreciate it. LINK That's the only stats I found on him and it was only 18 games. He must have started playing really well the last 14+ games.
Wasn't calling you out btw, I was just curious as to where you found those stats. That's some really impressive numbers compared to the ones in the OP

A good start for wade if he could persuade this guy... But the most important need at the moment is another big guy that can play solid minutes
Posted on 3/29/17 at 3:28 pm to macaoidh
article sounds good for LSU as he seems to have connections with out incoming recruits.

don't know much about this kid, but whatever wade does, i'll support until he shows me why i should feel otherwise.

It's crucial that he bring in at least one and almost assuredly two kids who can play the post.
But Davis isn't exclusive of that. He gives you better than you have at the point right now - which is not a shot at Mays, who will be good before he's done here, but Mays can't shoot like Davis can and he's also not as good a defender at this point either.
Ideally you'd open up some space and sign Davis and 3 post players - say, two JUCO's and a high school kid with some upside. I would hope you could get Davis and 2 kids. If the whole bunch is JUCO's, because those are the best available, so be it. They'll be seniors two years from now when Wade's first big recruiting class are freshmen, and they can help build the culture.

It will be tough to get a difference maker post player from high school at this point. I hope he can, but it may be too late.
Best bet will be a JUCO or grad transfer while he recruits for 2018.
I actually have high hopes for Epps. I think his style of play fits Wade's system.

I agree. Grad transfer or JUCO is probably his best shot

I don't know about that. Epps provides something with the ability to step out and knock down 3's at 6'9". But he is a horrible defender. Not quick enough to stay in front of wings on the perimeter and not strong/willing enough to battle inside with post players

It would be even harder to get a grad transfer. Those guys are looking to win, best case for LSU next year is NIT

No, they are looking for PT. Many of them are coming from winning programs where they rode the bench.
