Early enrollment and scholarship numbers

Are early enrollment numbers dictated by open scholarship numbers as of the Fall... There seemed to be several posts that Dylan Moses' bama commitment was related to his early enrollment.
For the school, there certainly seems some advantages and disadvantages to early enrollment.

You can never have more than 85 players on scholarship. So basically we need to see how many guys transfer or graduate before mid January next year. That's how many open spots we'll have for early enrollees.

I was under the impression there was a limit on early enrollment numbers too but I saw somewhere UF had eight EEs last spring.
It seems reasonable that a school would make every attempt at (micro)managing early enrollment numbers, and the candidates would be highly regarded recruits.

I'm sure with as many seniors we have on this team, we will have 10+ graduate and be off scholarship in December. That will allow us to take everyone we want who is a EE. I'm not sure what happens with the guys who are going pro like Fournette and Adams.

The number of early enrollments is equal to the number of spots under the 85 in the fall plus the number of players who finish their careers and have graduated by Dec. Someone who leaves the program, like an underclassman entering the draft, doesn't increase the EE limit.

Are you sure? I've always heard that the 85 max at any time is the only control. I'm pretty sure that players who quit after the season, including those with remaining eligibility, don't count against the limit.

Any reasonable guesses on how many we can finally sign...27 maybe?

We are most likely going to sign 24-25 like we always do. This time last year we thought we were going to sign 28 and still have to turn down some top prospects, but we ended signing 24 on nsd

That's the way it was and it's possible it could have changed, but I doubt it. Now I am only talking about the number of EEs. Anybody who leaves will clear space under the 85 for the following fall.

If early outs clear space in the fall, why wouldn't they clear room for EEs in January?

The rationale is that the scholarship is for the year and the only substitution exception is for players who graduate.
