He has tremendous upside, but he may be more of a project.. like you said it may take a couple years.. then again, it takes this for many college qbs..

I always envisioned Franks as our next Mett. Just big QB slinging it all over the place.

I think Franks will be very good. A lot of his mechanics can be contributed to his body constantly still growing. He's a big athlete and he has a big time arm. He has a long motion like a pitcher though.....Colin Kaepernick like.

Thank You, he has the best upside of any QB in recent years.

He's not "there" yet but you could be looking at the next #1 pick in the NFL draft, it'll just take some patience and hard work on his part.

I think the worst thing you could do to him is plug him into a starting role as a freshman.
Let him grow and fill out while working on his mechanics for a few years and he'll be an All-American.

I'd certainly welcome him back. Harris would hopefully stay through his senior year and Franks would be a mature, developed, redshirt soph taking over the starting role.

Honestly, I don't know who we get but it's imperative that we land a big time QB this class.
They need time to develop and we are in the timeframe to make it work.

That could absolutely be the case for Franks. It appears that this qb class is going to be really strong. I think there are a ton of solid college qbs in the class. I don't think many of them will project well to the NFL, but I would say the top 10 or so guys are pretty spot on. Patterson and Haskins could start as freshman with a Spring under their belt if they needed to.

He's scared of competition. We could be undefeated right now and Frank's would still have decommitted. He's taking the path of least resistance. To me that's the mark of a pussy, but I ain't a college coach.

Scared of competition?? People are funny. Kid has to make the most important decision of his life. One that works for him. He only has 3-4 yrs to make a case that he belongs on the next level (NFL). When people accuse athletes of being scared of competition, I wonder wether the commenter has ever played college ball. Cause if you have, you realize that there is a lot that goes in to "winning a job". If he can be the guy sooner than later, and the situation is right, why not go?
