SEC is won in the trenches. We are going to be very thin on the line next couple of years. Which makes pulling a major DL haul the next two years absolutely crucial.

We also must hire a D line coach. P Jenkins it's great as a consultant, but need an up and coming guy.

Agreed. Herron's situation hurt the team, and Shelvin's not qualifying hurt as well. The backers will be good, and the secondary will be fine.

True but OL recruiting has been much worse.

Yes, I would like to see at least six offensive linemen signed for this next class and to not rule out JUCO offensive linemen.

Chassion and Phillips were great late gets. But missing out on Mathis and Wilson were huge.

He may not want to, but O will have to go JUCO

You are correct, but people around here get more excited about all of that DBU stuff.

The one team in this conference that wins the most games seems to understand this point about the trenches.

We get more excited about the number of players we put in the league and spouting off the DBU/WRU and LBU crap.

Herron, Shelvin, and Lawrence then later Alexander being out made that game into the rout it was. That's our top 3 dlinemen and Shelvin very well could have been the 4th. Lac and Gilmore are very mediocre. Hopefully Logan and Farrell develop into good players or we'll be counting on incoming freshman for depth next year.

Lawrence
Alexander, Shelvin
Fehoko

That's a good, maybe great starting line for next year. The problem is depth. We'll need Logan or Farrell to make huge strides or one of the incoming freshman to be great or we're one injury away from being pushed around like last night.

Spot on, next year's rotation should be very good and we still need to add some more DL this cycle. Gotta win up front on D and bluntly we got pushed around last night.

What rock do you crawl under at night? Jenkins is not a consultant. He's a full-time coach who has been considered the best in the business since, probably, before your ignorant arse was born. The line got manhandled because Lawrence and Herron were out and Farrell(?) was ejected. Lack of depth isn't his fault.

At best, you're confused because he doesn't recruit. That's been well-covered on the Rant if you made any effort to keep up. I think Austin Thomas is a pretty good trade as a substitute recruiter.

At worst, you're a typical know-nothing Rant clown spewing bullshite trying to impress other idiots.

Grimes continues to skullfrick LSU's offensive line and gets free passes. I don't care what anyone says he's NEVER been a good coach here or a good recruiter. His lines fold in all big games and attrition is partly his fault because he's not doing his job in recruiting.

People can down vote you but until we dominate the OL/DL LSU will never be elite.
That is our glaring weakness right now and teams are exploiting it.

let's be honest.... the only coming close to living up to their recruiting spot is Lawrence..... Herron and Gilmore were highly touted, but for one reason or another haven't panned out...

Herron is extremely disappointing, but there were concerns about Gilmore's tenacity before he signed... turns out those concerns were justified, considering he's soft for the position he plays.... consistently pushed around and doesn't have a "push"...

Wow . That's a pretty irrational response. I first met Pete Jenkins over thirty years ago . I think all LSU fans respect the man and his track record .He's a legend . But we also have eyes and understand the aging process and competition and the need to have a super- high energy person in that position. No need for you to throw yourself on the floor screaming because somebody wonders if he is the best possible man for the gig, considering his age and what is at stake. It's a fair question in every respect.

I can't quote on this phone, but he wasn't questioning or wondering. He stated that LSU needed a new DL coach and an up-and-comer without stating any rationale. He never said anything was wrong with Jenkins or why he should be replaced.

Questions are fine. Legitimate discussion is fine. What pisses me off are self-annointed experts who just come here to attack people,so that's what set me off. Call it a response to an irrational post.

By the way, what "fair question" did he ask?

I have a question I hope is deemed appropriate. I would ask coach O and Coach Moffit why are our linemen on both sides of the ball getting dominated by so many teams? If its fundamentals or strength? Or just plain coaching? Since I am not an "expert", please inform us all what's going there. Just a question. Not asking you Slick for the answer.
