Many's All-State AJ Carter just committed to UCLA. Rated as a 3 star RB, but we know how ratings go.... He is a bruiser at 6' 220 lbs. Gained 2,289 yds as a junior with 41 TD's. Had offers from Ark, Miss St, Ok St, Kansas, Texas Tech, TCU, Vanderbilt, Missouri, and several others, 17 in all. ......but not LSU.

His mom and dad both wanted him to go to LSU, but I guess he got tired of waiting.

Tired of waiting? There's a long time before signing day. LSU usually likes to see some of the lower rated guys work out in person at their summer camp before an offer is made.

Good player, but we are going after some highly rated kids at RB this year and next year. Most of them are waiting to see what our new offense looks like.

2016 and 2017 we actually have running backs committed so you may want to pump the brakes before we see what they can do. We also have a number of offers to highly rated RBS out right now so you can just shut your mouth because it's friggin May.

I believe he worked out at the summer camp last year so they should have a full right up on him already. Those stats are nice but that competition is absolutely horrible and it shows on the film.

We still have enough talent to get by this year and sign some top dogs in February and still not need them to be full time backs in 2018. You are forgetting some fullbacks in there who can tote the rock.

San Andrea's Fault could open and UCLA could be in the Pacific Ocean.

I know I'm probably in the minority here, but there are no elite backs this year. There are a few above average and mostly light in the arse (205 or under), and the ones with size are pretty average looking. Carter is average looking IMO so it's not really a loss. LSU just needs 1-2 guys for depth purposes.

I think Edwards-Helaire will split carries with Brossette in 2018 and then Helaire will be the full time starter in 2019. 2019 is when we'll clean up in top level RB recruits.

Last I heard on Franklin it was reported he was "working on becoming qualified on time." Harold Joiner seems to be the guy people are most confident with. As for the running backs currently on the team that haven't had a chance to shine - our new offensive system will favor anyone who is willing to put in the work and effort. People who take that spring game literally I think need to tap the brakes. I expected a sloppy offense, especially when only being able to have 15 practices with a brand new offense.

In football recruiting, LSU running back coach Tommy Robinson is headed to North Louisiana today to see instate tailback AJ Carter (6-0, 220) of Many High School. Carter, the highest ranked running back on our list of Top LA Prospects, is currently committed to UCLA, though that could change should he receive his long-awaited offer from LSU. Carter rushed for over 2,000 yards last year and can be descried as a one-cut back who like to get down hill quickly. LSU is expected to take three running backs in this year’s class, and I would love to see Carter among them.

In today's (5/26) update.

He is listed at 6'3". You can be that tall and be very successful at running back still. He has stated that if he continues to grow he will switch to receiver but being that tall at running back doesn't necessarily mean he won't be good at that height. Last Heisman running back Derrick Henry was 6'3" and so was Steven Jackson. I'm sure there are more those are just 2 at the top of my head.

I haven't really heard a thing about him so my guess would be yes.
