As he said here, Smith has connections to University of Georgia director of player personnel Sam Pettito.

"Getting the news that I earned an offer from Georgia was great, because I know at Georgia I will be well taken care of and coaches that will look out for my best interests," Smith said at the time. "Athens is a nice place. The campus is beautiful. Georgia is a school I can see myself going to.

"With Petitto being at Georgia, that brings Shyheim Carter and I closer knowing he is there," Smith said. "I am pretty sure that has us both seriously considering Georgia."

Sounds like Carter is leaning there too

I was going to link that same update. Smith has a connection on the UGA staff. His commitment isn't completely out of left field.

What does Georgia offer him that LSU cant?

Even though he's not going to Bama it still sucks to lose the top athlete in the state to another SEC school.

West Monroe's DB Coach last year is at UGA now. I wouldn't be surprised if UGA starts making more visits to the area.
