No, not so much. We have some long shots at best.

LSU or ND?

For LSU check sticky:

Calvin Barnett might be the biggest now. But keep an I on:

1) Byran Jones
2) Calvin Smith
3) Cassius Marsh

I'll personally be going to all of Marsh's games with my LSU garb on.

Best DT in state is Churphy Steward and he might not qualify. Might be a slow year for us and DTs. I mean it had to catch up with us that we signed the best every year for like a decade.

Yeah, it sucks that there are two bigtime DTs in the state this year, and neither of them have grades.

Well guys, you know what we signed last year, so we really don't need any this year.

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't sign a single DT in the 2010 class.

I suspect Akiem Hicks will be one of the four DT that rotate in the first team this year if he is any good.

I look for Josh Downs and Chris Davenport to redshirt this year.

We could take two or three next year and still be in great shape.

Don't let the fact that we don't sign any this year worry you. Miles & Co. have it well in hand.

And, by not signing any this year, it sends a message to kids: no matter how good you are, you better have the grades.

The fact that LSU didn't offer Lacy and only half heartedly offered Sentemore late, also sends the same message.

I thought we had already approached him about a sign and place knowing that he's too far gone to qualify. I might be mistaken though.

Wow, he must be hovering right at the 2.0 mark after three years, if that's the case.

I believe you should sign quality DTs in every single class. Having a load of depth at the D-line has been one of the pillars of our success over the past several years. You can't have enough of them, IMO.

No, we still need to sign one DT in this class. Davenport, Downs, and Edwards are good; but depth is needed behind them. If there is any position a team should oversign at, IMO it should be DL. You need to be able to rotate those guys in and out, and keep the pressure on QBs.

I'm not sure about the exact situation. But I do have big problems with these high school coaches, especially at a school like Breaux Bridge who have sent numerous players on to college football, not making these kids understand during their freshman and sophomore years in high school that screwing up that early can make them miss out on huge opportunities later on.

More often than not, a guy who is good enough to play in college can be spotted very early on, but no one is on their arse to keep it together in the classroom.
