Blackwell wasn't a FIRST YEAR PLAYER though, he's a redshirt Sr. this year who has previously redshirted, so he can't just redshirt again. And it's not a given that you get a medical hardship, you have to wait until your four years of eligibility are up and petition the NCAA to let you have an extra year.

I'm talking about Collins, numbnuts! hint: FIRST YEAR PLAYERS

AND, it almost is a given they will grant you a redshirt if you didn't play again after that...the NCAA has really no choice to believe you were hurt or why would u play one game and NO more.

Blackwell is different and he came back

lsusaint doesnt know what hes talking about. You can no longer do that. 3 or 4 years ago you could but not anymore. If you play at all you cant redshirt.

Yes you can....if you are on course to graduate after the 4 years and ask for a medical on the first year that you played one game and redshirted, they eill grant you the 5th year back.

SO if it is considered a "redshirt" or medical redshirt", it definitely can be done.

I think he would start if he were on campus for Spring.

But that is the very reason he may not play- not having the Spring hurts Collins. Need to get him in the weight room for now..
