Could this affect in-state recruits?

If this lasts, either the kids won't play or replacement officials will be used, which would probably lead to more injuries.

You do realize that these are high school referees you're talking about, right?

Won't be a difference between the regular refs and replacement refs. These aren't college, NFL, or professional refs.

Nothing will change with the regular refs or replacement refs.

They really on strike so that parents don't meet them in the parking lot after.

The pay isn't worth that

you think the calls you get are bad now... replacement refs won't get the same training and education with the rules that the current refs get. if they did they'd want the same pay

and with the quality of LHSAA refs, the replacements are more likely to be just 5-7 random warm bodies from the stands

replacement refs are more likely to lead to bad habits for our prospects, as they'll let more penalties slide that will be called at higher levels

I really don't see this as an issue with recruiting. Many recruits show up with "bad habits" anyway from High School because they are typically a lot more talented than their peers and in the case of lineman naturally bigger and stronger.

Blah, blah, blah.....

The refs are all guys who have day jobs and do the work for cash on the side. I bet many were claiming most of the cash anyway. Hello IRS

It is not a hard job and those fricks get mileage as well. So they all ride together (when possible) and All charge for mileage pay etc.

There are tons of refs that train doing Jr high and jv games that would jump at calling high school for the money they make.

The drop off would be minimal and many of the seasoned refs would not sit out

lol did a ref mess you over in the playoffs one year? or are you an LHSAA principal? no one reasonable should be begrudging refs any of that with what they have to put up with. the raises the refs wanted were not really to put food on tables, but rather to be a show of respect from the principals to the refs. the principals voted it down, so now they get what they pay for.

most of those refs are already high school refs. why do you think freshmen games are during the week, middle school later in the week, and JV always on Saturday mornings?
