playing schools like Wossman or Franklin Parish..

Those are district games...Neville has no control over their district and they don't play wossman this year

The sweet boys at IMG are going to be in trouble when they head off to Desoto

What are you teaching a young man when you quit two weeks before fall practice starts.

If IMG was that legit they would have scheduled Acadiana, Destrehan, West Monroe, Neville, Or Curtis (just a few that came to mind).

well except for the part where they're in Florida and we're in Louisiana...

we ain't the only place with badass football. they play DeSoto, three private schools in New Jersey, a few Florida schools, Eastern Christian from Maryland, and Southern Lab

Why do people think it's just easy peasy for a school to schedule games against tough opponents? How do you know they haven't tried?

Good point, the only purpose of the post was to state that certainly they could have found a more formidable opponent than Southern Lab in Louisiana. No knock against Southern Lab, but it's it's like coming to Louisiana and fishing for pogies when you could catch yellow fin tuna. Get out the shallow water and find the fish that will rip some drag out and fight you.

Well this is the result of college sports becoming a big business littered with street agents who manipulate people. High school basketball plays second fiddle to AAU. HIgh school baseball has become secondary to travel ball and showcase crap. Many kids on football are under the influence of stree agents. Players leave school after brief college careers. It is way out of control, but as long as the coins keep rolling in, there will be no changes.

If you have been to IMG you would understand that it is basically an athletic prep school.
Please stop acting like you know what you're talking about, you're spreading misinformation on a bunch of levels. I've said this in many IMG threads, I moved from new orleans to bradenton in 2005 and went there for 4 years and still live a few minutes from it and these threads drive me crazy.

IMG isn't a school, and there's no IMG school anywhere. When you get accepted to IMG they give you a choice of 3 schools to attend that are affiliated with it, and most people go to Pendleton because it's on campus but run like a separate entity.
quote:

Their academics are good but its the structure and resources that attract kids.
Not really. The academics are pretty bad honestly, especially considering that Pendleton alone (not counting what you end up paying for boarding and IMG fees which is the expensive part) costs more than country day in New Orleans. It's actually complete shite when you look at it like that
quote:

They teach you how to balance school and athletics in college
They don't do this at all. IMG teaches you how to train for 8-10 hours a day and enjoy it while keeping school to a minimum, just like college athletes do.
quote:

IMG's popularity plus they will start traveling more across the country for games because for past years most their games hav come from the Jacksonville area
They didn't play a single game in Jacksonville last year… And out of the 4 games they didn't play at home, 2 were out of state
quote:

If you have been to IMG
When have you been to IMG? Did you jump the 20 foot wall that encloses the entire campus and sneak past the security guards to tour it or something? When I was there and my parents flew in to visit me they had to jump through hoops to get inside the campus while their son was attending, not sure how you're getting all of this inside scoop on a place like that when it's pretty obvious that you didn't go there and don't have a kid that went there

honestly it happens bc the competition is too diluted in high schools... there are just too many of them for the number of legit college teams. just because the paper covers it and 90% of the people talk about it as opposed to AAU, etc. doesn't mean it's the best way to develop elite athletes
