Saw Chavis and another aTm coach with possible recruits at lunch today. No pics. I know. DV away.

Observations:

People left them be for the most part from what I saw.

Chavis looked like hammered dog shite.

One kid was pretty big. Prolly about 6'4" 275#. Probably DL. I didn't recognize him though. Other kid was possibly little bro of other kid. Looked a lot younger. And not to mention when he stood up he was only about 5'3".

I thought it odd that they chose TJ's of all places to have lunch with croots. Seeing as the place looks like an LSU gift shop vomited on the inside.

Just wanted to pass along.

Hahahaha.

Another observation:

This data point definitely lends me to believe he doesn't like recruiting. He was sitting directly in my line of sight. He was literally staring off into space 95% of the time he was at the table. The whole situation looked very awkward for all involved.

When he was at LSU, his territory was the Acadiana area. He went ONE time a year...ONE. To think this guy drove/flew/bused 4 hours to recruit the Baton Rouge area is doubtful.

What's the rule on buying lunches for recruits? Only on officials?

If an assistant coach went to a recruits house to visit but the coach hasn't eaten and the recruit's family has nothing cooked for him because they can't afford to feed every single visiting coach from every school, what's the rule?

It'd be a natural gesture for a coach to offer to pay for the meal (like any decent person would) who is imposing on a family's time and privacy. But is it forbidden by rule?

Does the coach have to say, "Hey, I'm hungry, let's get a bite to eat. Oh but I can't buy your meal. I can't even buy you a drink or an after dinner mint." So awkward...

Im gonna speculate here, but...

I'm guessing that although it looked like a likely recruiting trip, Chavis was probably out wandering, trying to locate a 3rd down defense. He realized he had wandered into previously familiar territory, and stopped for a bite to eat. Two young brothers noticed that he looked lost, and offered to sit and eat with him and give him directions.

Upon further explanation by Chavis to the young men, they realized that he was beyond help. Feeling obligated to comfort him until whichever time he chose to depart, an awkward silence overtook the table. The blank stare into space was actually Chavis watching reflections on various glass objects throughout the restaurant, making sure that process servers did not follow him into the dining establishment.

DV away for the long, sarcastic and speculative post.

Has his contract dispute been fully resolved?

He may have had a court date.
