Why should a random All-star game that is supposed to be a privilege to play in count against what these kids have done their entire careers?

Because it's the one of only a handful of times they get judged while playing college level talent.

All Star games are much better barometers than the ordinary high school games in which they're playing against guys who are small and slow.

Sure the Bama bump is real, but Bama is putting more guys in the pros than almost anybody, and they're winning more championships than any two teams put together.

It is up to LSU to get a few more classes like this one to eventually match them in talent, then take them down

Dude...come on. There is no relevant talent gap for LSU and Bama. We have been out worked on gameday.

Well Mr. Perfect..you would be wrong.

Bama has considerably more talent.

Bama has had better defensive players on their Dline, linebackers, and safeties.
Offensively their QB, TE, and Oline have been better.

Without such a huge fall, LSU would've broken 300 easily and possibly had the most points ever. Now we almost assuredly will end up at 298-299

Yeah but all-star practices dude.

3+ years of high school film and tons of camps yet players move violently because of 4-9 days of practice.

Same kind of shite happens with the Senior Bowl and the NFL draft.

Newsflash - the practices are peons compared to the other data at your disposal.

Rashard Lawrence got bumped down for not playing in the all star game because he played hurt throughout the post season to help his team win a state championship. Not sure how they can justify that move, but to me Lawrence should have at least stayed the same if not moved up.

Kendell Jones got bumped up based on how he is "expected to be used in Bama's system." Not for any actual on field or in practice reasons.

But there is no double standard at all.

Ehh, unfortunately you're half correct. We've been outworked, sure, but they've also just been better than us. Our DBs are great, and we've got superior WRs, but their front 7 has dominated our OL much more than our front 7 has dominated their OL.

You can't just look at the draft and say LSU is turning out the same kind of NFL talent because you ignore where that talent is actually playing on the field.

The original post is correct - it is going to take a few hauls like this for us to be on the same playing field when it comes to OL/DL talent.

The all-star practices should be used to confirm your original take on a player. If there is a MAJOR discrepancy between the practice and your evaluation up to that point, then you should make a move one way or the other, but most of this shite is absurd.

I think Savion was a 5 star at one point. He took a huge dive in the ranks after the UA game.

Saivion has been a 5 star every ranking this class has ever had except for one. The one weeks out from signing day while he was already enrolled at LSU, and LSU looked to be running away with the recruiting title

Alexander and Monroe also dropped 20+ in the composite top 100 the last update, after holding steady for 2 years worth of updates

Rivals moved Barrett Jones to C in their rankings so they could rank him as the #1 center prospect in the country, which bumps up his ranking score vs being ranked lower at either guard or tackle.

What did he play at Alabama?

2009: Guard
2010-2011: Tackle
2012: Center

He moved to center out of necessity in 2012.

He's been on 4 NFL teams in 3 years.

Rivals Link from 2008 on Jones..

DL and QB are what has seperated LSU & Bama.

Orgeron is equalizing the DL. We need Cam & Les to develop a QB

Its not about the talent, its the depth of talent. Lsu has blue chippers, bama has a 2 deep of blue chippers.

Not for long.

Brick was finishing #2 on DL recruits every year. Coach O pretty much gets who he wants.

I saw that as well. Everyday that week they were falling with no reason behind it. I like 247 but that is crap. If they play that kind of game just for subscriptions then they can keep there subscription. This is like Louisiana politics...all about the money.
