They have commercials where they encourage bama fans to turn on the radio for games because Verne and Gary are so mean to them.

Typically, LSU has a net negative when it comes to players getting bumped up and down after the season ends, whereas Bama is always a net positive for the same.

It's a guarantee every year like death and taxes.

Very first sentence says:
quote:

Even Nick Saban thinks there could be a "Bama bump" in recruiting rankings.

Cliffs:
quote:

Tom Luginbill, the national recruiting director for ESPN, believes in the "Bama bump." But he thinks it's predicated more on recruiting networks trying to appease subscribers than a nod to Nick Saban's track record.

"Keep in mind that a lot of these recruiting websites and resources are reliant upon revenue of a fan signing up for a team site," Luginbill says. "When that's the case and you have to drive up (subscription) sales, what do you think those sites are going to do? They are going to start pumping and priming players that are committed to their school or considering their school and place them above other players because they are trying to drive subscription sales.

"Anyone who says that isn't true is full of baloney."

I'm pretty sure alabama has the most subscribers, so if these recruiting services give ratings that appeal to the fan base that brings in the most money, they are likely to keep their subscription and more money for the recruiting service. And honestly I don't blame the services, its a solid way to make money. I just blame those hillbillies that bammer football is their life.

I saw the points fall for a week before the new update.

LSU had 286 points before Lawrence and Allen committed

New rankings come out, everyone but Divinity falls and LSU had 275 points

Allen and Lawrence commit and LSU ends up right back where they were at 286

Without such a huge fall, LSU would've broken 300 easily and possibly had the most points ever. Now we almost assuredly will end up at 298-299

Also kind of eliminates their relevance.

I think Savion was a 5 star at one point. He took a huge dive in the ranks after the UA game.

Somebody should calculate the points from early in the recruiting cycle (back when Savion Smith and Big Ed were 5*) compared to now.

If all our guys kept their original rankings (some adjustments were fair, e.g. Willie Allen was ranked too high), LSU runs off and hides with this deal.

There is a long list of things you could tell your friend about Bama that he "wouldn't believe". Just let it go.

They are getting what they paid for. They've won 4 of the last 7. With the playoff now, they will be in the Final Four annually.

It is up to LSU to get a few more classes like this one to eventually match them in talent, then take them down. Especially since it looks like OM may get nailed.

This class will end up being LSU's best ever.

All that matters

A real poor showing or a great all star performance may justify some movement. But, one game versus a whole high school career should not result in a huge movement up or down.

What about those who don't play in an all star game? What do they do that radically affects their standing over 40 high school games?

I agree honestly the rankings should be finalized after the high school season is over. Why should a random All-star game that is supposed to be a privilege to play in count against what these kids have done their entire careers?

Often times they play in a new scheme or out of position in these games.

Would be like me ranking the NFL's top 50 players based on their pro bowl performance.
