I don't get these threads. Why do we (as a fan base) rush to dump so much hype and pressure on these young players before they even sign their LOI or see the field?

We did the same thing to Fournette. Posters on this board claimed he would win 1-2 Heismans if/when he came to LSU and be the greatest college back since Walker.

Why can't we just support our players in P&G and let their careers unfold as fate would have it.

I just think it pathetic if a grown man is placing so much hope on the weight of a high school kid. Relax with the "future Doak Walker" winner comments.

Hey, I'm not saying Fournette didn't live up to the hype coming in. I think he's the most talented RB I've ever seen. But claiming he was a lock for 1-2 Heismans was foolish. Way too many politics and variables are involved in these awards

All I've seen is his film...must admit, Akers is impressive on film...if he plays in college like he did in hs, we won't miss a beat after next year...Guice is certainly special for sure though...

Agreed. Let's not saddle the kids with projections about what they will win. Hope we get Akers who can be a stud RB that will help us win a lot of games - Period.

I wasn't disputing Monte Ball's production. But it's an obvious stretch to link Canada to Melvin Gordon's success.

Why don't you just shut the frick up...how about that??

Why the need to attack him? Grow a pair, there's no need to attack him because your opinions don't line up 100%.

Canada has had multiple backs have success at different places. With the talent at rb Lsu gets every yr Canada will have our running game on point. Akers should love this hire.

Canada also coached RB Michael Turner (Falcons) at N. Illinois.

He will be very RB friendly IMO.

State might have the best back in MS this year though after watching Hill. If we miss Cam I would love to give a late pitch to that kid.

I'm not a big hypotheticals guy... BUT could we just jake a second to imagine if Canada convinced Fournette to stay and Akers to come here. We would have that backfield featuring Fournette, Guice and Akers all at once.

Fournette was a leading heisman contender the majority of his sophomore season

He was injured his junior season and still put up great numbers

Let's not act like he was integral in the development and production of that entire backfield for anything beyond one season.

Truth be known, Gordon, Guice, Fournette, and Akers ability was established at conception.

Barring injury each would make it to the NFL no matter the coach. Coaches get the glory temporarily but the player's ability that earns merits.

I for one am happy w/our head coach, the defensive coordinator, as well as our new OC. I think we are head and shoulders where we were last year at this time. If we would have had this staff all year, we might just have had a helluva team , as well as a great record. Geaux Tigers.
