Everyone on the defensive staff needs to GTFO.

Been waiting two weeks on a flip, and our weakest position gets gutted.

Happy Monday

According to some who have good info he hasn’t performed up to expectations as a senior. Apparently not great in coverage and not physical at all

With the recent news of Berry, and Underwood I figured something bad was coming. Why can’t we ever have good news consecutively?

This defensive staff should be ashamed of themselves. The entire defensive staff deserves to be canned. Horrible coaching, disappointing recruiting.

We were always going to target a transfer guy at corner for next year. Now we might have to sign two. JK Johnson will be back as will Alexander off his injury. I’m higher on Johnson, Causey, and Woodland than others. Stamps, Toviano, and Hughes will continue to develop. We’ll see what happens with Welch. Harris and Chestnut are gone. Depending on who we can land via the portal, this room looks much better next year than this year.

That's definitely the narrative being spread around. Could be but the schools still recruiting him aren't exactly slouches. FSU isn't recruiting bums. We also can't afford to throw away potential boundary CBs due to a less than stellar Sr year. They obviously saw the right traits before.
This isn't melt material. It's been clear for a while he wasn't signing here. Shea/Billy have all but said that multiple times.

Sadest part is they can come in and play immediately…sure they have no confidence in this bunch of coaches

I cannot think of a single reason why Steeples should still be a member of this coaching staff.

Agree with a lot of this. CB isn’t as dire a need in 2024 as it was going into 23. And I’d happily have Harris and Chestnut back if it’s possible. We need to stop the revolving door in the secondary. JK Johnson will be the key to improved DB play.

We should all be encouraged by the true freshmen and the traits the incoming guys have, but ever since we lost Ricks last cycle, it’s been downhill for Steeples. It’s been a failure, period.

With new DB coaches, I think we’ll see a big improvement next season. Hopefully we can hire Jimmy Lake as DC.

Maybe senior evals led to the coaches cooling on him a bit

Good point so let's go sign a CB from McNeese or Nicholls instead.

Yes we can. If he can't perform at the high school level, why do you want him? Measurables aren't everything.

He would fit in perfectly in Matt House’s secondary

That sounds like the typical LSU excuse after a decommit.

I've been a big fan of Bates, but I said a while back that watching his film, he looks stiff and more like a center field safety vs a true CB. I still think he'll be very good, but he may not be the shut down corner he was thought to be.
