Brother Martin vs. St. Stanislaus (Myles Brennan)

Halftime BM 28 St. Stanislaus 7
BJ Swilling is going off. I always like to see out of state recruits vs familiar opponents. Helps to put things in perspective in terms of level of competition. It will be interesting to see how MB and company responds. The 2nd half should be passing almost every down to catch up.

Les Miles has lost control of St. Stanislaus

Well... How did Brennan look?

Solid half for Brennan. 141 yds passing 1st half.

Stanislaus was out gunned. Swilling once again ran all over them and only played 1st half. Hell the whole BM team ran and threw all over Stanislaus. No defense. Brennan look good when he had time but he ran for his life all night.. BM had too much presure and too many athletes. BM had more players on the sidelines than Stanislaus has in school.

Solid info.
We knew all along they would be outmatched.

Some of stanislaus passing plays looked like screens because of how quickly the defenders got through the line....most the time they weren't

St. Stanislaus loss big to Alabama top ranked St. Paul, as well as BM last year. This year SS beat St. Paul (who was ranked #1 in 5A). I'm always trying to get a gauge of level of competition that out of state targets are facing. A familiar program like BM is a great opportunity to compare Mississippi FB vs. Louisiana. After the win over highly ranked St. Paul, I was looking for evidence that St. Stanislaus had improved in at least a competitive game vs. Brother Martin. Result, Louisiana football is the real deal.

In all fairness, Stanislaus had little chance against Brother Martin-much bigger school and program.

Yep, BrM was good.
SSC is actually pretty good as well, just a lot smaller and not as many athletes.
It was obvious on the line of scrimmage.
I was also told last night that SSC would be 3A if they were a Louisiana team.

Quite a few D1s at SSC. JC, Evangel, and UHigh have historically faired well vs in state 5A clubs. I'm sure SSC was out manned. Appreciate the OP post. It's still good to look at to gauge comp. Even with Swillimg, BM hasn't been our best 5A team in state.

His numbers suggest that he is definitely " a miss". His ability to do it against quality 5A opponents will decide how big the miss is. Plus kid has chosen his Dad's alma mater. Not like hasn't been offered. He's committed to GT, a school that uses more RBs per play

What has U High done "historically" against 5A teams in LA?

maybe you missed what he did last year

You can't miss on something that never was.
If we didn't offer or didn't pursue him with enough energy, then ya...he would be a miss.
We went after him and he wanted to go to GT. I can't blame him and wish him the best of luck.

Not at all. They use him too much in body bag games. His health is an issue down the stretch. Wasn't 100 percent middle to late 2015. He's a stud. But i haven't seen his best yet. If they don't run him the ground this season, I'll have chance see. You and I are on the same page. He would be a big get. I don't believe we have anybody committed with size at RB in this class.
