Father played at LSU was linked to OU did not happen. LSU needs OL always but I haven't heard very much about him.
6'7" 310 anybody have any information on him.

He's a 3 star on both Rivals and 247, not that rankings are the end all be all. Seems to be trending toward the Hogs.

If Sam Pittman thinks he’s an SEC level olineman then LSU should offer

I think he visited LSU lot and was linked strongly to the program a couple years ago, but I don't think there's been much talk of him in the past year or so. I assume he didn't end up developing into a guy we wanted to take.
I think we're pretty solid on o line. At least solid enough that we don't need to be reaching. We signed 3 really good prospects in the early period and might sign another 1 or 2 in February. We signed a bunch of solid guys last year, too

Sam Pittman is an excellent recruiter, but this logic is dumb. He's got to fill his class somehow and is going to have to take chances on guys he would never have considered a take a Georgia. Was he recruiting Ward to Georgia? I highly doubt it.

quote:no, he wasn't. But that's with a pretty good OL class this year (IF you include SVP) and a stacked OL roster. Definitely didn't make sense for him to recruit him to UGA.

Somewhat of a project. Absolutely great frame... that he doesn't handle too well. "Cumbersome" is the one word description I would use.
The question any school with a spot to use is will he 'grow into his body' or can he 'be trained to be much more agile'. It's hard to tell the answer at this point. To be bluntly honest, he should have camped more so coaches could try and find out how much of that is inherent and unfixable, or how much is fixable.
By comparison Crawford was almost in the same boat in his Jr year. But he developed into a true OT. The same progression and trajectory isn't there for Ward.
Would LSU take him if a free spot? ehhhh... I'm going to say no at this point because those spots are too valuable. I think he'd be worth it, but we're talking 2-3 yrs of coaching to be contributing.
I would've thought that Tenn would be all over him. They are not. The most mutual interest is with the Gumps. I think if they have a spot to burn, he's near the top of their list. They think he can be coached/drilled into a SEC level OT.

Great post.
From reading around Jimbo and TAM brought him in a couple of weeks ago and have talked about grayshirting if need be. Seems open to it. Too much of a project to me but most are.

Time of year when LSU offers the ‘sleepers’

Even though his dad went to LSU I heard last year he was all Bama but never got any interest from them.

Saw St Paul’s play almost every game last three years. And it’s a no.
They are really good people and I have nothing against them at all, but he will just never see the field at LSU.

Super kid, but still has some developing to do in order to compete in the SEC. He has improved, but still has a ways to go. Down the road he might turn out to be a great player, but he's just not ready right now!
