I saw that too. The rankings are kinda BS though. The guy has done nothing to lose the 5th star and other guys aren't that good to push him down that much either.

I love LSU so I follow recruiting a fair bit, but the politics involved is laughably absurd. The seriousness with which these recruiting services, recruitnics, players, coaches, parents take themselves so, is laughable. "Committing" at 14. "Committing" at all, quite frankly. There is no real commitment until signing day. And stars based on who you commit to and when instead of just an honest ranking of players? Are you serious? Besides the fact that it is almost impossible to evaluate players across the country tics. against each other who play such infinitely different schedules against infinitely different people.

It's a business now, and I get why it's popular. And I get why kids get caught up in it. But being awarded a 4 or 5 star is no real achievement. It's nice, don't get me wrong, but get a 5-star in 1 hand and piss in the other and see which makes you a great college player, much less an NFLer. Neither. What you do in college is the only thing that matters. All that other nonsense matters not one iota the second you arrive on campus. Again, I get why the kids get caught up in it, but the adults should stay out of the poliitics. It's just sad. De committing from one school to get more love from another to get a rankings bump? To what end? You are who you are. You will be who you will be. Kids work hard. Adults, encourage, but get out of the fricking way.

He was hurt all last year as a junior so he didn't have as big of a season as his sophomore year. He is now fully healthy and in good shape again and he is having a big senior season. Had a monster game tonight and received player of the game.

Has had a great season after an injury plagued junior year. She him play twice this year and he performed like you expect a top recruit to in 2A.

you're right about that

let's ask the kids that don't get any stars...

here's my thing... how do you rank kids of all positions and ATHs against each other? how do you measure the impact of a WR over that of a G?

well tell the college coaches to disregard the star system too while you are at it. they are just as involved in acknowledging the system as the kids and parents.

Camps ... If you dont go to these Nike, Rivals, ESPN type camps during the summer the outlets take it out on you because they say you dont like to compete and thus they knock your ranking down.

i don't even get what's the point of all of those camps... they're not trying to sell shoes to the elite of the elite who probably know all about shoes lol.

I understand all-star games bc that's actual football, but how can you evaluate kids when they're not getting hit?

Negative. Coaches do not pay attention to Star System. That is one of the most foolish things I have seen ever. Unless you are a college coach which based on that remark you are not you have no clue. I on the other hand am and can tell you eye test is king. Coaches rely on coaches and what they see on film then in person

I'll start by saying I was critical of Ed at the start of the season. He seemed to take plays off while on the field and hardly was on the field when the defense was playing. I don't know if he was out of shape, hurt, or something else. In addition, it seemed like he was not a high character player. Nonetheless, early in the season,Big Ed was at times a man among boys on the field. It was honestly frustrating to watch him at times because you knew what he could do but he didn't throttle down every play as some guys do. It's like he plays soft until he builds up a "water boy rage"and then look out.... He is a monster!!!! As the season has worn on, Ed has picked up his play for big games and destroyed oline when he needed to. He and Cameron are two big reason STA is undefeated currently. Now how all this translate into stars.... I don't know, nor does anyone really. However. I'd speculate that maybe he doesn't show 5* talent every game to scouts. The fact is he is as good or better than anyone on the plays he puts forth the effort. Extremely fun to watch when he goes all out smashing double teams then sacking the QB.
Clearly LSU will expect more out of him and I think he can give it knowing he will be rotated. 4* or 5* makes no difference at his level or to LSU. This guy is a beast and will help our tigers.

Being very close to the situation yes Ed was out of shape early in the season and it showed. He would go 3-4 plays then need a break. As the season has gone on he has become the dominant player that he was expected to be. Last year he missed the majority of the season due to injury but dominated and was unblockable in the playoffs. No matter what the stars say or rate him, he is going to be a great college player with NFL potential. He has unbelievable explosion off the ball and outstanding feet and quickness. Has the strength to push bigger lineman around. Kid is a true Freak.
