How is the Louisiana basketball talent looking for the next couple of years besides smart? Any big name recruits possible?

Stacked. Most stacked it's been since Brandon Bass, Big Baby, Temple, Tyrus, and Taz. Most of the best are in BR, the River parishes, or Laffy too so the Temples should have maximum influence.
2017
Galen Alexander (Breaux Bridge) 6'7 210 SF consensus top 45 player
Mitchell Robinson (Challmette) 6'11 240 C consensus top 45 player. Committed to TAMU
Brandon Rachal (Natchitoches Central) 6'5 195 SG consensus top 60 player
Josh Anderson (Madison Prep) 6'4 175 SG consensus top 100 prayer
Cedric Russell (Peabody) 6'2 185 PG consensus top 110 player. LSU commit.
2018
Javonte Smart (Scotlandville, BR) 6'4 175 PG consensus top 5 player
Josh LeBlanc (Madison Prep, BR) 6'8 220 SF/PF consensus top 30 player
Greg Williams (Lafayette Christian) 6'3 180 SG consensus top 40 player
Kobe Julian (Madison Prep) 6'6 205 SF/PF consensus top 100 player
Isiah Lewis (St.Augustine) 6'3 180 PG/SG unranked. High potential kid.
Then you've got Shareef O'Neal out west, Emmitt Williams in FL, and then 3 top 10 guys at Montverde that we've offered and are working.

I don't even know what to think regarding Jones, because like you I've been fapping my brains out at the idea of LSU locking down the 2017 and '18 classes.

Is the Lewis kid at St. Aug related to Terry or Dewayne Lewis?

Let me sorta update this...
As someone mention, Galen is at LCA now.
2017: Cedric Russell is an LSU commit already so keep that in mind. Also, Caleb Daniels from St. Aug is one to watch. Joseph Thompson at Bonnabel intrigues me as well.
2018: Isiah Lewis is now at API in Dallas. Jared Butler at Riverside is one to watch as well. A couple others who could have big summers like Devion Dunbar at Sicily Island, Jharon Whitfield from MPA, DeVaughn Thomas from Comeaux. TJ Collins from Bonnabel. A lot of guys who could fly up the charts quickly. Loaded class.

I posted this a few weeks ago.
Louisiana had one of the strongest classes in Basketball in some time with 4 guys in the top 100 and 7 in the top 150.
LSU got none of the top 5 and only 1 total.
Guys going to UMass, Texas A&M, Baylor, Miss. St., and Iowa St. instead.
I don't have much faith in LSU getting these big time players from Louisiana.

So they've got him and Williams. Jesus they're loaded.

I just don't see how we attract any big time recruits after our poor record with Simmons. It really worries me about the foreseeable future with JJ at the helm.

Galen Alexander and Greg Williams have a looooooong way to go. I don't see them progressing that much. I've watch them a good bit the last two years. I think the biggest miss are the twins at lafayette christian.

The LeDoux twins. They are ballers. LCA is probably going to walk away with 1A title easily.

that doesn't mean they can play at a high level. I hate to tell y'all this, but Louisiana basketball isn't good in high school. And if we are going to be successful, we better recruit nationally.
