First thing this is hard to believe but if true he’s still has almost zero chance in being successful. So much more to pitching than just getting up there and throwing. If he’s never played and a runner gets on then what? He has never held a runner, never had a ball hit to him, or any other little thing that almost everyone on the field has dealt with since they were probably 8 years old. Not saying there’s no chance for him to learn a lot of these things but it’s not something that’s taught in practice. Actual game experience.
But if I’m a high school coach with a lefty that can throw 90 then I at least try and work with him

My kid is a 6'5", 230lb 16yo Sophomore who has played baseball and pitched all his life. He can sling it. Currently topping out at 87mph. If the mythical little lefty is even real, he can't break 75.

correct but if you kid is 77" tall and a weight to height ratio of almost 3 and only throwing 87.....he is either weak in terms of realitive strength in the explosive box squat, bench press for speed, chin ups, reverse lunge and the deadlift. he also prolly needs to work long toss way more. bet he struggles to hit 300'

honestly at those stats, you kid could easily be sitting 92-94 junior year if he committed to the weight room and a long toss program this off season...95-97 if he kept at it his senior year and got proper training on med balls and heavy/light plyo balls.

kid has high d1 stats at that height and weight.

oh 100% correct about op. the weight to height ratio makes it virtually impossible just based on momentum potential, not to mention lack of strength. and if he could do it, he is currently at extreme risk if TJ unless he fixes those things immediately. but its all made up anyways

Pitched all my life, played for one of the top jucos in the country, and played D2 ball, I was 6’3 235 Lbs with what most would consider an above average arm for D2. I sat 87-90 and topped 91 a few times my senior year. Ain’t no way, Jose.

ETA: forgot to mention I’ve had 3 surgeries lol

If this kid is 125 lbs or less and can throw one pitch off a mound to a catcher 60 ft away that equals or exceeds 90 mph, I’ll write him and you a check for $10,000 each.

He’s not big average nowadays, 110lb at 16 is slender, sounds like a manager that some friend is on the team and watch “Johnny” throw it, and threw it as hard as he can. But the dude needs to eat, kid is 13 5’7.5” 154lbs built like a tank with weights but he is not the biggest Jr high player on the team. What I’m saying is he throws hard ??consistency?? But he’s not that big at 16
