I agree with your 3* statement on Baker and I would rate Falkins (Alabama commit but good luck on being able to sign with them) exactly the same. To be very specific, using Rivals scale, I would put them at 5.6, not even a 5.7 (bordering a 4*)

Just because a guy "whiffs" doesn't mean he didn't do his job on a block. IF you force the defender to move out of the path of the runner or within reach of the runner in order not to get blocked, doesn't matter if the blocker misses the player or not...mission accomplished.

That's how I read it...I would have thought that would be something you don't say publicly tho

This is not surprising. It had been reported quite a bit lately that Swanson was a good possibility to decommit.

Based on reading the posts of others and the other WR's on the LSU board, I had doubts about Chuck Baker. I was wondering, though, if anyone has seen anything about what school will receive his commitment now?

Almost a complete 180 on this board now regarding Baker. I questioned his ability because it was obvious and also got hate mail from 99% of the jokes on this board.

Hopefully this is a reminder that there needs to be objective criticism over circle jerking.

I'm sure you did...unfortunately, I hit the perfect storm. Another LSU commit who shall remain nameless apparently had an interview and pointed to this forum specifically and sounded like he had heard about my individual post and acted like anyone who said Chuck Baker wasn't a great player was not an LSU fan. Wow!!!

The funniest response I saw to his statement was by someone else here who said, "I hope recruits grow thicker skins because when the pressure of going up against SEC opponents occur, this is going to seem mild by comparison."

Chuck Baker committed so early that I didn't see a list of schools that MIGHT have been interested in him. I see the guy as a mid-level program guy (within LA, La Tech might be a good option for example...I wouldn't wish Toolame on anyone!) . I also mentioned he looked pretty physical in his highlights...not just tall but catching balls in traffic and hard to bring down and looks like he could block, i.e tough receiver. I could see this guy as a special teams demon if I'm right on that aspect.

But having seen highlights on both him and Falkins, I simply didn't see either of them getting open against SEC corners/coverages to catch the balls (not fast or quick enough to do so). If I was wrong on that, I think both could be relied upon to CATCH the ball. JMHO

Grades. But don't let that stop you from shitting on his talent, because it hasn't stopped all the other people in this thread coming back to say "Told You So!".

Including the admitted alter that came back specifically to do that.

I was just kidding and I wont knock the kid. Miles/Wilson offered the kid for a reason and I wish the kid the best. I remember the threads from when he committed.

Cousin- Take the 1 off and you have your answer. IIRC

Grades is being stated and my guess is he does have grade issues, but the really early verbals are usually in a precarious position, especially those located in the state of the university they commit to. Just my opinion obviously, but I have always believed part of the offer THAT EARLY is to win a few points from the home state HS coaches, to act as an insurance policy at a position of need, etc. IF LSU doesn't try to find someone better as the very long process goes on, they would be the ONLY university who doesn't try to upgrade towards NSD.

And to be fair, the recruit gains also...he gets a big time offer in this case which can only help him find another one if indeed they part ways.
