I'm pretty sure we arent over the limit of a scholly. That would make zero sense too, especially being a huge WR pickup that will play his freshman year.
Not saying it affects AJ, but we are currently 2-4 over the limit going into the fall (depending on whether Alleman and/or Porter get scholarships).

Although not disputing what you're saying, if LSU was over the limit then why did they just sign that JUCO offensive lineman? From my understanding LSU was 2-4 under and were considering giving EP a scholly.

I don't know; I imagine we are planning on some attrition/processing. I just know if you add together all the new incoming scholarship players (including the big JUCO OL) with the returning scholarship players on the lsusports.net roster (not including Alleman or Porter) we are projected to have 87 total for next fall. If Alleman and Porter get scholarships, that number is 89.

Well, he's one incoming guy who's family (brother) could afford to pay his way for one semester.

<---I think Avery's pissed I took his picture down as my avatar pic. Just in case, I'll put it back up.

This type of thing happens almost every year. The coaches know how to handle the attrition & get the # to 85 by the time the first game of the season rolls around or whenever the fall deadline is for the roster to be the required athletic scholarship #s.

I know. It will work out, it always does (even if sometimes it causes bad PR). Just correcting someone above regarding our current numbers.

Avery called Les Miles on signing day to say he was committing to Alabama too. He could have just been joking around like signing day IMO.

Sounds like some are using some sort of reverse phsycology in this thread. I didn't see anyone really taking it serious and even myself said I didn't believe it in earlier posts. The whole point was to get some discussion and see what some guys opinions were as to why he would publicly talk to a close friend who happens to be Duke Johnson, an elite rb prospect going to Miami, on Twitter about transferring to Miami. Yet I see posts from people bitching and complaining that people are discussing it when that was the whole point and was even stated. Relax and don't take things so serious. Stress will kill you. I just relayed the info that some Miami people were putting out and even stated that they are notoriously unreliable in recruiting circles. No different discussing him now than the million threads started during the spring, summer and season last year every time he said something to a reporter or on Twitter. It's just discussion.

Lynx, you've been around these recruiting wars long enough to know how things work. I honestly am not suprised by much in recruiting these days. Only those naive enough to think their school is the clean one, don't believe how things really go down.(Looking at you Longhorns) There's a reason the NCAA compliance office is so busy. I've heard a ton of stories on kids with their hands out and even our beloved Tigers have landed some of them so I'd be in denial to think we are clean. There are some kids in the current cycle that have some questionable people around them and I'll be listening for stuff on them because I find the stuff interesting.(No LA kids that I've definitively heard about)
