Reading into his comments makes everyone think he's going to Texas, but the recruiting guys that talk to him every week swear that UW is the favorite. That said, I'm saying Texas.

If he gets the Texas offer, he's going to Austin. Otherwise, it seems like it's down to Alabama and Florida. Some Gator fans say they're done at TE, so I don't know. We would certainly take him. But I'm not optimistic. I think Alabama's chances are better with Nick O'Leary.

He's down to Texas and UW. He's taking a visit to Texas this weekend, then announcing a week later. He's got offers from everywhere in the country except for Texas, which makes me wonder why they are in his top 2. If Texas offers him, my guess is he commits there, but like I said, the recruiting guys here that talk to him on a weekly basis claim that UW is the favorite regardless of a Texas offer or not. I'm not buying that.

Dude has OL written all over him. If he goes to TX he will be an OL by his redshirt year.

He says that he would rather quit football than play OL. Texas told him that if he got above 280ish, they were moving him there. He's already at 265, but he still runs a 4.65 at that weight. Also, here's a quote that a guy who covers Washington recruiting made yesterday about him fwiw, "Regardless of a Texas offer this weekend... UW is the favorite to be picked on the 16th..."

You never wanted the hottest chick in the room eventhough lesser females were on you?

Texas isn't any more appealing than Alabama, Miami, Nebraska, LSU, USC, Florida, Notre Dame or Oklahoma (all who he has offers from) for a kid from Washington. Some people are saying that he is just doing this to try and earn an offer from Texas since that's the hardest offer for a recruit to get that isn't from Texas.

the Orlando Sentinel reported Saturday he was down to Texas and Florida.
quote:

With numerous offers for the No. 1-rated tight end in the country, he has the option of attending many different school. Right now, his top two choices are Texas and Florida.

but he sounds like other schools might still be involved:
quote:

"I considered committing [to Florida], but I just decided I'm going to wait, I'm going to look at my options," Jenkins said. "By chance, Texas came along so now I'm looking at Florida and Texas and some other schools."

I like the reference to all the purple and gold in the Washington article. I know he's referring to Husky colors, but still, pretty funny for us Tiger fans.

Another update from the local writer that covers recruiting here. "Talked to Austin again yesterday... and personally invited by his coach to the presser...

Resist the urge to jump off a cliff (referring to UW fans that all think he's going to Texas in the thread)... As I have said all along, UW is the favorite regardless of what happens at Texas...

August 16th will be a great day for Dawg fans..."

He's getting my hopes up, but I still think he's going to Texas.
