He's very raw. Route running skills need little work. Physically the kids a beast. Will probably decapitate someone on special teams next year. Very high ceiling brings his lunch pail to work kinda guy

Well, just a guess, and as usual, he is not a Bama target.

Wasn't Chark a 3 star recruit? Seems like a lot of these kids that don't go camp all over the country don't get the publicity unless they are a straight up freak of nature.

Speedy Noil and Malachi Dupre were five stars.

DJ Chark was a 3 star.

A lot of times 3 stars outperform 5 stars.

I was just about to ask why we went after this kid? A 3-star with only offers from 3 SEC schools

Not looking good with Devonta Smith I guess

DJ Chark only had 2 SEC offers. Should LSU cut him?

He only had 5 offers total. LSU, A&M, OK St, Southern and Tulane. He had Memphis and SE La on his list of schools and they didn't even offer. Yeah, LSU should cut the guy if he only had 2 SEC offers - HE SUCKS !!!

its always funny reading comments like these. even funnier when the thread is revisited 2-3 years down the road after the kid ends up all-sec, etc...

Tyrann Mathieu, one of the best defensive players in the history of this school was at best, a 3 star coming out of HS. Don't get star struck. Trust the staff to get the right guy.

Well he's got good size, he's fast, he has good running ability, he's strong, he's shown that he can catch the ball in the middle, and he has good hands. However, he's raw and needs to work on running routes, on making cuts, on camouflaging the direction of his cuts, and on blocking on the edge. If he red shirts, he should be just as good as the more polished four stars in 2018 on all of that stuff, because LSU will drill him everyday.

Exactly. And once our coaching staff finally put Chark on the field it became obvious pretty quick he was the best damn WR we have. If a QB can get the ball in that young man's hands he stands a chance of taking it to the house. Some of these kids just fly under the national recruiting services radar. There are 3-4 kids LSU is in on that are 3 stars that I think will be very productive in college.

Mathieu started as a 3 star but was quickly bumped to a 4star after dominating lsu and Tennessee's camp

Slow ya role there bud. Chark hasn't yet outperformed either yet. Ultimately I think he will, but he hasn't yet. The last LSU guy to have as many yards AND TDs as Dupre had in his freshman and sophomore years, was Michael Clayton. Noil's first year was proof that he was legit (46 receptions, nearly 600 yards, and 5 TDs), but he also was a huge f**k up.

Let's don't downplay some just to pump up others if it's not warranted.

I can list off at least 10-20 5* recruits over the last few years that were raw as all get out, but had a shite ton of upside. They can't use that as an excuse.

It don't matter. This makes up for what we lost in Ausbon. He's better to me than him. Got that Nola attitude we need. That Grit.
