This isn't correct... You simply need a QB that gets the ball off fast, while making quick smart decisions and we also need OTs that are pass pro preferred. This opens up the run and LSU also should recruit RBs that can creat but is physical enough to take some shots or several backs and play them all. LSU also needs to teach their WRs and QBs how to create down field when the WRs look covered but are 1 on 1, high point the ball, back shoulder passes. If LSU simply did half of this we would be soooo much more successful. We have creativity coming and a great OT prospect. Defense is coming along faster which should be the direction. Now it's time to stack this OL starting NOW. Go from there bc that is your building blocks, the OL across the board and the front seven. Priority this year should be OL, tackles esp, LBs, middle esp, and more QBs, RBs. Then fill the rest with the best you can get. GT we are gonna change this. It's coming

Isnt it obvious we need to go back to a Dual Threat QB? Last 4 national championships had Dual Threat QB for both teams

We must have been watching different games.

Clemson won by throwing the ball. Watson made huge 3rd down conversions in the second half. They also ran 99 fricking plays. A qb that can get out of trouble for an extra couple of seconds to deliver a ball down field is still superior IMO. Doesn't need to be full on dual threat. Also, how many deshaun Watsons are there this year? Takes more than physical attributes to do what he did last night.

I don't want to take anything away from the kid - he played a hell of a game (full disclosure - I dropped in and out in the 2nd and 3rd quarters - I didn't watch the entire game or even the finish). Clemson, overall, was 7-18 on 3rd down - if they would have converted just 3 or 4 more of those - that's probably worth another score.

Watson was 36-57 for 3 TDs (No INTs) - he only rushed for 43 on 20 carries, but really the 15-yard TD run was the only one that mattered.

True - which is a subtle flaw in the Bama system. Saban does get starry eyed (pardon the pun) and recruits players with gaudy measurables. But how many great football players does he get? Yeah, that front 7 is monstrous. Ditto for the OL. But they don't have a single "football player" as good as Watson.

That was one of the things that separated the 2011 LSU football team from the pack - we had great football players almost 2-deep all over the field. And I would have traded 3 or 4 of them for just 1 QB.

Deshaun wasn't really dual threat last night though. He had some designed runs and made some plays with his legs but they won the game by throwing the football and have WRs and TEs make NFL catches.

Let's start with an accurate qb who isn't easily rattled and go from there.

After these past several years I'd settle for a Single Threat QB. Outside of Mett in 2013, our QBs have been Null Threats.

It's not so much that DT QB's are superior, it's that there are so many more of them. Dropback HS QB's are a rare breed. Everybody's running some form of spread.

I'd say Narcisse over Scott
He's taller and bigger
6'3 224 vs 5'11 220

The last 7 times Alabama has lost has been to a dual threat QB. I think that's pretty telling.

The only thing that tells me is, that's the key to beating Alabama what about the other 9-14 games. Take LSU for example we do pretty well against DT QBs so that is not the formula for beating us

LSU doesn't play LSU so we don't have to worry about that

Out QB needs to have the ability to present the threat of a run. Doesn't have to take a hit every play running the ball, but to be some teams he will definitely have to use his feet to score or pick up yards every opportunity and we haven't had that much lately.

Some people think others mean only running QB when they hear dual threat but Watson is the perfect example of dual-threat. Can't diminish the fact that he scored with his feet and made plays other than passing.

agreed. The mobility or threat of run (they are different as a previous poster cited) only extends or enhances the damage to be done in the air. That's what we need. OL won't be perfect, have to not surrender those downs.

Dude, he had like 50 yrs rushing, and a lot of that was running for his life. His passing won the game.

Get over the dual threat bullshite. Yes a passer first.

Sometimes I hate that we only get one down-vote.

"Sorry Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, you need to be on the bench. Because mobile is the only way to win."
