You guys that think WHERE a kid goes to school has any affect of maybe more than 10% of WHERE a kid goes in the draft are retarded.

GWIII has "it" and would go to Ball State and still end up a high NFL draft pick if he still has it.

Watch the games today and actually listen to the schools the kids come from... Northwestern, San Jose St, Bowling Green, blah blah blah.

Outside of maybe QB play, no school is any better than any other for 90% of the kids that will be high draft picks.

98% of the kids in the NFL are BORN that way, not MADE that way.

I agree completely..... Which always makes me wonder why players like CRob go to Alabama for a "bidniss" decision? Not like going to LSU would hurt or even change your draft chances??!?

If he's so good, why did he not get an offer from Bama? Or did he & he just wants early PT?

There is also a certain school bragging about getting people to the NFL without mentioning they were 5 star elite athletes who would have made the NFL out of any college.

Couldn't agree more. People confuse the different aspects of coaching and think that coaches that don't win as much are bad at teaching and development. Sure some guys are better at some of that stuff but the differences are marginal. Besides pro coaches can and do coach guys up as well.

You need look no further than LSU. The best NFL player to come out of LSU in the last 20-25 years, Alan Faneca played for Hallman and DiNardo. DiNardo's undoing is usually blamed on Lou Tepper. At Illinois Tepper had Simeon Rice and Kevin Hardy who went #2 and #3 in the draft off a 5-6 team.

He got one. Never liked Alabama to begin with. Eliminated them like in July.

I think some other factors are involved, like early playing time, national exposure and trying to make sure you're in the right offensive/defensive scheme to properly maximize your abilities.

Maybe follow recruiting for a lil bit before posting next time. Idiots like you are why this board sucks.

Had Webster, Peterson, Claiborne and Mathieu (amoung others) gone to Kentucky, there'd be UK DBU signs all over the country.

Although I will say that DB is the other position outside of QB that a college coaching staff can make a difference with.

All that sounds lovely but we'll use DL as an example here as it works this way with pretty much every position.

Sure you'll get noticed if you're that good. However, when you're the only guy on the line, you will be taking double teams and blocks from the running backs bc your the only major threat.

A good supporting cast is BETTER for showing out and in turn will make you more money.

You think the bama RB's would be drafted as high without their stout OL? You think lot McCoy would have been drafter as high without his OL and WR? No.

If CRob went to ULM he could still be a first round pick. That said, schools do and should promote stuff like that. Bama's had a bunch of OLmen drafted so they should sell that, just like LSU should do the same with DB's and DL etc.

like early playing time

Then I would submit that 5* players would be better going to Houston or ULL.

national exposure

Completely irrelevant. There are 32 NFL teams with multimillion dollar budgets of which the sole purpose is to dig up players from 300 college programs.

the right offensive/defensive scheme

Has some merit. But not a whole lot.

i will disagree, Cooper is about as much of a DB guru as it gets and without him, I dont know if they have the same success at UK

And Reid wouldn't have gone as high without those guys. You can't isolate 1 DB. You can't isolate 3.

You think early playing time and national exposure are completely irrelevant to these kids? Ok, respectfully disagree. But then I wonder why they design the biggest recruiting weekends to be the big games that are on national tv?
