Sumlin has stated several times that he will play the plays that we need to win. If that means using our O-Line to make room for the 2/3 5* RB's that will be on our roster, so be it. If that means making 3yd passes all day, so be it.

I expect us to run it much more this year in order to get our QB comfortable. Sumlin is no dummmy.

Gino's Take

quote:

We checked in with one of sources and was told he is still 100% locked-in to LSU. Melvin was scheduled to announce to LSU this past week, but we have been told, Melvin is wanting to get DeSean Smith to announce around the same time.

To be honest, A&M has a much better shot at claiborne. Are y'all gonna end up offering him?

No, initially I was thinking he might get slow played like 2012 signee Deion Jones but Claiborne camped and still wasn't offered. Dude is good though and most here would love to have him.

I don't think we will, but many LSU fans would like us to, me included. I think he's better than some guys we took last year (and I wasn't a fan of taking 7 guys in one year at a position that only has 2 guys on the field most of the time).

He's going to be a good player for whichever team gets him. He's another one that plays QB and LB for his team.

Last years class was needed. While there are some potentially good players, I don't think any of them are slam dunk big time sec linebackers. The LB core needed a talent infusion in the worst way. Attrition will take care of things along the way.

I dont know much ab tamu class, but last year they had a top5 until other schools actually got commits. We had like 8-9 less commits than they had, which is why at one point they had a better class.

I dont really understand the "commitable" offer bs. If anything id hope the coaches are strait with these kids. But its almost hard to, the coaches lie, and the prospects lie. Never ending cycle that i think would be helped with an early signing period.

I don't know how anyone can say exactly what A&M will run % wise pass/ run since we haven't played a game yet. Diff personnel / strengths etc..remember this is still the same coach who as OC at OU helped Adrian Peterson get 1800 yds.
We'll get our share of the Tx kids that LSU is after also (% will grow as / if we get better)but getting a kid out of La that LSU wants is/ will ALWAYS be tuff. Even when the Tigers were down it was hard.

Claiborne would be a huge addition to our class and I would consider him a steal. I think any other year he would be LSU bound, and even if he does commit to TAMU, I'd be worred until NSD that an LSU offer would come. Some rumors however that he is actually favoring Nebraska.
