It's not until I'm halfway home it dawns on me no one told the football writer how good Terry Bussey is at football. Maybe that's obvious. Or maybe it's because Terry Bussey was right when he said his character mattered most to them

Bussey's last run article

There's been a lot of "chasing the bag" comments with Bussey. Not sure I've seen his story shared, but I do know several posters know it.

This is a high character kid and at the end of the day, whatever school he signs with in 2 and a half hours - they're getting a helluva young man

Being that he’s a high character guy makes me believe that he wouldn’t de-commit and sign with us on NSD. If he would have decommitted from them already then I would believe that LSU has a chance. High character guys don’t make moves like it would take to leave Aggie at the alter. This is just another year of LSU fans working themselves into believing something that’s simply not there

I want him at Lsu but I respect his decision if he doesn’t
I think if we sold the “family atmosphere” to him
We have a shot
But I truly believe he sticks with his commitment

If he is not a “chasing the bag” kid, then it’s LSU 100%. A&M is a trash program that has relied on the $$$ for years now. No development of its players and no champions. It actually obvious how the two schools are on separate sides of the spectrum.

I'm pretty much of the same mindset. I feel like the struggle with the decision is 1. He gave his word and 2. If he hadn't given his word, he'd be purple and gold all day

I think him giving them his verbal commitment is a big factor today.

I feel like I can root for him to be successful individually while losing every game of the season

Agreed. But he could have also looked at it like this, he is truly torn and considering lsu, but never 100% sure on either, and knowing if he de-committed that attention and drama that would have caused and doesn’t want that smoke while he considers everything through to today. He’s been quiet on all fronts and that just seems like who he is.

Let's remember Bussey the next time a kid provides drama late in their recruitment and doesn't have a "feel good" story to propagate the masses. Without that story, and the other's like it, we'd all be calling him a drama queen and say he's chasing the bag. Just a little perspective.
High character doesn't mean lack of flaws or times of low character being displayed. Not saying he's showing low character but no one can definitively say the opposite either. Remember we all lost sight of Colin Simmons' brother situation when proclaiming him a bag chaser. Character isn't determined by the opinions of strangers. The strangers just have an overinflated sense of how much value their opinion holds

Being a high character kid makes that bag bigger IMO. Why wouldn't it be a smart decision to take the most money if he truly is torn between the two schools?

I believe LSU has about a 20% chance of landing Bussey. Not a great possibility but not impossible.

aTm: 70%
LSU: 20%
UGA: 10%

I am still hopeful as I believe Corey Raymond and our program are superior for his opportunity. He apparently is a bright young man with good character. Unlike some of you , he put A&M on full notice that he was looking elsewhere when he decommitted from them. This is a natural response on his part to a development in their program in losing coaches. I digest this to understand that coaching matters to him. Logically, our hiring of Corey Raymond a legendary coach who turned out more pros from our program and others where he has coached to earn us the moniker of “dbu”. Raymond is well on his way to reestablishing this within months of his return with prospects to our program. In my opinion, Bussey knows this and has seen this up close on his visits.

Thay sounds good and all and i agree with you for the most part but he never decommited. just didnt sign in December with the rest of his class... and with the coaching change who could blame him.

Strictly based on his recent likes on twitter, this should be a slam dunk flip to the good guys. Merry flipmas boys

Chasing the bag is a negative take really. Any prospect can be a character guy and still want the most pay for play that he can get. And I'm calling it what it is BTW...it is not NIL. It is 100% pay for play! Most of these name, image, likeness guys you will never see their faces, so let's end the misnomer on that right now.

Poster Gumbopot above my post is close to my prediction. I think 70% A&M, LSU 20%, and Georgia 10% is in the ball park to mine. I have it 60% A&M, LSU 35%, Georgia 5%. I will be shocked if Bussey signs with Georgia.

+1
I have no respect for aTm's sports program, but I'm not gonna hate individual players.
Bussey seems like a classy player.

He let A&M know that he was looking around after there coaches were fired. In the meantime we hired Corey Raymond. This is a high character young man that I believe will make a sound decision. I don’t think he is in it for the money only and has been extended money by both programs..I haven’t cared for A&Ms program and believe LSU will continue to be the better program but do acknowledge that Bussey makes them better than before if he decides to go there and I wish him all the best either way.

Apparently, he did not tell A&M before he committed, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that he surprises everyone this morning.

Whatever his character, he could still use the money.

I don’t recall ever seeing it this silent before a major recruit announced. I thought last night some information would pop, and certainly this morning but it’s crickets. Really weird
