Honestly I think there is some behind the scenes stuff with LSU recruiting Akers. There has to be a reason they haven't offered and heavily pursued Fabian Franklin(2018) and Noah Cain(2019).

I wouldn't think a '18 or '19 recruit would have anything to do with Akers. He's a 5* running back, he shouldn't be scared of a kid younger than him.

Maybe they are not as high on Franklin as the recruiting sites are. Feb 2018 is a long ways away too

My top 9 would be

Dylan Moses
Marvin Wilson
Cam Akers
Chris Allen
Jacoby Stevens
K'Lavon Chaisson
Isaiah Buggs
Todd Harris
Levi Jones

Also I would move Moffitt to a TE prospect
And offer Amik Robertson late if a spot is available

I think it's more about perception. You want Akers to think he's top priority no matter what class. Jmo though

We recruited other running backs when we recruited fournette. We didn't take any the previous year but beyond that they recruited '14 and '15 guys. They even recruited Dalvin Cook

Mathis should replace Stewart but other than that, that's a solid assessment

I thought Mathis was a higher priority until we landed Farrell yesterday. We probably cannot take more than one or two more DL's in this class and Wilson they are pursuing heavy

They might end up taking 6 with Moffit being moved to offense.

Shelvin
Farrel
Wilson
Buggs
Mathis
Justin Thomas

It's very possible that Mathis/Thomas are on a first come first serve basis with their offer. I can't help but think at some point we are going to land another guy we never heard of or had no idea he was being on offense. Maybe a TE or another WR.

Lsu is def not in decline lol I just love when people try to project this outrageous claim on LSU. That is the definition of delusion. A class like this and another next year would put us back on top for sure. Ole Miles just might turn this thing around and quick. If he does no one and I mean no one better ever say anything less than him being right there behind Saban as the best coach in America.

Add in Akers and the tight end committed to A&M and you got it

K'Lavon and Harris both move behind Allen in my opion. Akers, Buggs, Chris Allen all top 5 guys at their positions, unfortunately we probably won't get any of them though!

Great list, hope we can get some of the LB types to commit early (Dec- early Jan) so we can adjust accordingly. My concern, we have (1) LB currently in the fold. What happens if those four go elsewhere? Seems we would be working with, and maybe we are, a list of 8-10 realistic candidates....bump plans... LSU would appear to be a great spot of LB recruits to land with the opp to compete for early PT.

And why do you say this?

It's funny but we have had some pleasant surprises to commit this year. Our entire class is awesome, but I am mostly talking about players that committed to this once again top 5 class that most LSU fans didn't see coming.

1) Austin Deculus
2) Seth Stewart (I could care less what is ranking is, this guy is going to be a monster OL. At a towering 6'8"-6'9", He is almost nothing but muscle. I know he will probably be on the OL, but could you imagine him in the face of some QB's...
3) Neil Farrell (He is rated the #1 DT in AL, and we got him. Also another player rated lower, but that will change. He is all muscle with great instincts.) We also have a good shot at Will Ignont #2 ILB from AL. Would be big get for us.
4) Clyde Edwards-Helaire (Not a surprise we got his commit, but he has been a pleasant surprise watching him in drills. His stock is going up.
5) QB's (We have IMHO 2 of the best QB's in the country) Brennan just keeps on impressing. Lowell is rated #1 QB-DT and Dylan McCaffery is rated #1 QB-PP and I would not trade Myles Brennan for any of the QB-PP in the entire nation.

Just speaking for the top 25 not that rankings matter to me but I can see us pulling these guys before it's over:
1) D. Moses ATH (We know he is RB\LB)
2) M. Wilson DT (Possibly NT because of his size, just like Tyler Shelvin, who has stayed with LSU from the start. Gota respect Shelvin and give him some big props.
3) Ph. Mathis DT (He is a smaller DT, but the type of guy we need in a 3-4, just like Neil Farrell). They would play on the outside of our really big DT's.
4) Ja. Stevens ATH (Probably Safety)

I know the list will go on, but I am just listing 4 players in the top 25 that we really have a good shot at getting. Which would bring us to 7 of the top 25 players, and a host of other players that have committed that have so much potential.

Mathis should be on every list. Pure beast and quicker than most his size.

Also when is Brad Stewart committing? Didn't he say he would do so in August?

Modify to TE would be interesting.

Im sure he's strong and physical with his dad being a trainer.

That could be the TE they like.
