It looks like some think Kendal Jones might commit to LSU. Do you guys see any way we get the 5 big LA DTs AND Jones? Would we make room for 6 DTs in this class in addition to all of the DBs it looks like we are taking?

no way we get more than 4 with jones included as a nose tackle. logan or taylor (but not both of them) may get in as a sde. if we take jones first, I think it signals we are not as sure about oliver.

Yeah. I was kind of thinking that myself.

I think we definitely take 6. If not more.

Definite takes are
Alexander
Lawrence
Logan
Ed Oliver
Briston Guidry
Stephon Taylor

That's 6 right there that I know the staff will take
I'm sure someone off the radar will want to come that may be a take.

I think Coach O wants 5 but the numbers may be tight. Jones and Oliver are 2 different types at DT, think Logan and Oliver are the either/or as 3-techniques. Taylor looks like a guy that could also slide out and be a 2 gap SDE or even play T on the other side of the ball.

Not much of a Twitter guy but I came across Kendell "Hulk" Jones' father's Twitter and the only pictures are from their LSU visit and his background photo is New Orleans.
Take it FWIW.
If we can close Jones, Oliver, Alexander & Lawrence..

I think 5 is the most likely. But I could see 6 given that 3 of the guys we're going after in state can also play DE (Taylor, Guidry, and Logan).

not even O will be able to pull off getting 5 dts in one class. add to that shelving already committed for 2017 and I say 4 dts is the max we will actually get.

That sounds like an optimal situation, especially sense it looks like it will be slim pickings on DEs for this class.

I wonder if that is what inspired the recent crystal ball to LSU form the Baylor insider on 247.

This is important. Don't get too caught up in what who is a DT and who fits more into this heavier SDE that Bain and Neal are playing this season. Six isn't an outrageous number when you realize that most likely covers two positions.

Since Jones is between Texas and LSU, I would rather him go to Texas so Lawrence, Alexander and Oliver don't end up at SEC West schools

But unfortunately you take what comes

I agree completely. The "Top-4" D-Tackles for LSU this 2016 class are:
- K Jones
- E Oliver
- R Lawrence
- E Alexander

All four of them are legitimate 5-star possibilities when all is said and done. If we take another guy, great! But if not, and the other three instate guys end up going to SEC-West foes - well that's just the way it goes sometimes.

I think this is a great problem to have. If we were get all but a couple of this group, it would be a great DT class.

(And just my opinion, Jones should be a definite take.)

I believe that Oliver is quick enough to play DE...

O is a veteranexpert at this and he will get it all figured out. I say take alexander and Lawrence as top 2, the take the first 1 of jones or oliver (assuming you can only get one). then take one of taylor, logan Guidry at sde (assuming you can only get one). if you can get an extra guy then that's just extra gravy.
