We have four from the list on this board. KT already said he is solid to LSU. Cutrer has said he is coming, so don't think Chavis leaving will change his mind. I don't know about Xavier Lewis or Isaiah Washington on if the loss of Chavis will be a dealbreaker. They are local so thinking they like LSU and not just Chavis.

Didn't include Ugo Amandi but he said that Chavis leaving won't be a difference maker, so add him in too.

Everything I read says Chavis is not a recruiter. Is this true? If so why would people flip if he is not a big recruiter?

Washington would be the only one to really worry about bolting especially if Brick leaves. Lewis is shaky anyway but think he sticks. TAM fans thinking they're gonna raid everyone we are/were on are being ridiculous. Chavis doesn't have that kind of impact because he doesn't recruit. He may get some guys to look that way and bring some new blood to their board but the biggest impact he'll have is with the kids already on TAMs board like Sheffield and Mack.

I'm more interested and concerned about our new DC and coaches, if any, and the impact they have on our board than I am with Chavis stealing our guys

If Chavis was that great of a recruiter, why didn't the Mack's and others commit a long time ago like Bama players have?

Yes, he recruits. Not nearly as much as he should or as much as the other coaches, but he does participate.

Recruits build relationships and have an understanding about the type of defense run and where they fit in. When a coach moves on, they have to be sold all over again on where they fit and how they are going to be used, all the while, the other coaches from schools they are recruited by take advantage of that uncertainty.

Nobody said Chavis was a great recruiter himself. Its his system and results that recruit players here the most, although he does recruit to a lesser degree than other coaches.

Mack has been committed elsewhere and Chavis wasn't his primary recruiter.

Stop trolling with the Bama comparisons.

He did more work at camp and on visits, but didn't go out on the road a lot, from what I have heard. Could be wrong, but Brick and Raymond are the primary recruiters on D.

Don't want to lose Raymond for sure.

Corey Raymond is money and doesn't get enough credit.

What system. Under Chavis, we have had numerous draft picks and nfl starters in the NFL, and yet in the last three years we have lost on last minute drive to Clemson (on fourth and 16), Georgia, Bama twice, Ole Miss, and Notre Dame. So as a faithful and die hard LSU, yes we have underachieved with Chavis. The Bama comparison is simply saying if they are the so called best defense, our defense should have been twice as good.

Your post really has nothing to do with recruiting, so I will make it short. The offense underachieved tremendously in many of your examples, such as the Clemson game and this years Bama game, when the defense gave the offense the ball at the six yard line to put the game away. Not to mention the #1 ranked defense in the conference this year. If you asked anyone who the best coach on staff was two weeks ago, everyone would have answered Chief.

You I get it, we are mad that we got left at the alter. But if you want to put blinders on and choose to argue about how it relates to recruiting rather than understand it, then just click the link right above "LSU Recruiting" on the sidebar.

I thought Lewis was kind of considering A&M anyways. Maybe he's the most likely one but I hope not.

No it makes perfect sense in saying The defense doesn't start and end with Chavis. So if you are a recruit, understand no matter who runs the shows, we will show up. If you read what I'm putting, then maybe you will understand that our defense has been great for the last 15 years. So if a recruit decides not to come to LSU because of Chavis then, "Bye Felicia". Lastly about the offense and these games I talked about. LSU was winning every game that I mentioned with less than two minutes to play. The defense job is to stop the team from scoring. And while watching the game yesterday, I truly believed that the Chief head was elsewhere

Malvetto said whats up. LSU can just as easily botch this hire like they did after Pelini left. Big time programs dont always bat 1000, RE: Florida, Miami

It's called "recruiting", not just "signing". You have to sell it to kids.

Well, we agree on one thing.

I agree. Also we are both LSU fans who are frustrated, but you were 100 percent correct about me using Bama's name on an LSU website. Shame on me.
