As I browse through the various recruiting sites and read different articles about different players as they relate to LSU, I get this overwhelming sense that this is just going to be a down year for LSU recruiting. They made a big splash with a really good, underrated in my opinion, class of 2014 that has shown to have some studs already in their young careers.

Don't get me wrong, there are some damn talented kids that look like they are locks for the 2015. (Toliver, Guice, Teuhema, probably get Johnson) But for the most part there aren't many kids that can come in and make an impact right away. There are a few that will be works in progress and could develop into some damn good ball players, but from a pure talent stand point, I just don't see it.

Is it just me or do you bastards get the feeling CLM and Staff are just preparing for a HUGE class in 2016? You've got one solid QB in the books with Franks and another kid in state that you HAVE to land in Patterson. Once you get that elite QB squared away, the rest will follow. There is a hell of a lot more good news coming out about kids being interested for 2016 than have been 2015. I feel like CLM understands this so he's focusing in on the kids he knows will have an impact right away. I don't see this class breaking the top 10 in recruiting, even with Johnson and some others. What I do see is a class of 2016 that could potentially be ridiculous.

well, it's down compared to last year and next year.

But, I have a feeling we finish strong. POssible top five, but maybe around 7 or 8 in the country.

2015 a weak recruiting year?

I wouldn't consider what will probably end up as a top 10 class "weak"

down from last years great class? yeah, but not weak

I mean weak by LSU standards, naturally. But I'm not so sure it ends up a top 10 class. To end up in the top 10 you're gonna have to count on some kids flipping commitments.

A top 10 class is never weak by any standards. Gtfo with this logic. We can get plenty of Gems out of this class.

With 10 more to sign, if LSU gets 3 more 4*, and 7 3*, that would probably put them at #2 or #3 in the country. Right behind Alabama, right where they were for last year's 'great' class.

LSU currently has 3 5* recruits, more than any year since 2011.

So basically this could end up being one of the best classes ever to sign with LSU, yet people are writing them off and talking about next year. WTF?

They're just signing late, LSU will get theirs. Be patient.

We are recruiting for needs. Sure there are several instate players we could have offered, but maybe they don't fit the need. LSU will be fine come February.

Using Rivals and confirming your point, last year LSU signed 2 5*...this year 3 5* committed and would be a shock if LSU doesn't get at least 1 more 5*. This IS a down year for LA for sure IF the services are correct. Last year LA had 4 5*...this year 1. Oh, and I love your "be patient" final comment

Have you noticed over the years...LSU starts very fast, get a ton of verbals, and the staff get criticized for "dying down the stretch". LSU is more measured in offers, few early verbals, etc and "LSU is getting left behind" or some such. Gotta love the hypocrisy of some stargazers huh?

weak

That is absolutely the wrong term to use; I disagree with it.

The state was absolutely loaded in 2014; and looks to be loaded again in 2016. Relative to those two years, 2015 would be considered down, but weak is not a relative term.

Wasn't last year historically great for Louisiana? I think 2014 was the exception more than 2015 being down. This seems like a normal year for the state, whereas last year (and in 2016 from what it sounds like) the state was abnormally loaded.

Most of us are just blah with recruiting in general. It's much different than it was just a few years ago.
My advice: Stay calm and wait. Smart money would bet on LSU to end well.
