Downs -- as I recall, Downs made All-State as an DL in 2006 and All-State as a OL in 2007.

Heard that he was an unblockable DL at the LSU camp in 2007.

Sounds like he could play on either side of the ball.

Well done, Dodd. This is going in your personnel file.
Not just his personal file. It's also going in his permanent record.

What about gettin a link to the google recruiting map linked in the other thread below that you can update ever so often? Just a thought. That's a great map and I'd owe ya if I didn't have to go hunting for it every so often.

Wow it's hard to believe that top schools like LSU & USC are being forced to give offers this early in the recruiting process. Seems a little risky taking players after their junior season just ended.

yeah its a damn tragedy. i think that based on camps alone, LM can tell whether a kid is offer worthy or not. please dont fret about the early offers, and have a little faith in the professionals.

Would think if you asked our coaching staff they would say in the "perfect recruiting world" they would prefer to see how a kid performs in his senior year before offering.

Who do you think was holding a gun to Miles' head forcing him to offer Ford on the 2008 signing day.

Shepard is much further along as a passer than Terrelle Pryor was at this stage, and Shepard is more explosive.

Thanks for those player profiles, Cat. I never checked the ESPN 150 for descriptions but had read that Shepard was more of a running threat. This quote from ESPN is just scary. If this plus the supposed 4.3 time is true then this guy will get us another crystal ball. Hell, the recruits he's sending our way alone could get us a crystal ball! Thanks for the hard-on, but I'm having bad football withdrawal now.

What's interesting with LSU's 11 commitments is the home states. Four commitments are from Louisiana, but that means seven are from out of state.

College football recruiting as it is today forces coaches to make early offers to the so called top junior recruits. Why do you think Pete Carrol does it at USC or Mack Brown at Texas. Don't you think they would prefer to wait to see how a recruit performs his senior year if they could? Of course. We see the same thing in the NBA. Do you really think Chicago Bulls are glad they drafted Thomas?
