Wouldn't be mad if they came to LSU.

Figured Lee would transfer. He was starting with Harris I believe as a freshman but got passed up. Physically he looks like he was meant to play 25 years ago. Doesn’t exactly strike you as a guy who would excel in coverage.

In Brian Kelly/Polian I trust

You need to take at least one of them. LB depth is as bad or worse than the secondary...

Related but kind of unrelated, I wonder if House is evaluating any of these guys. I know his primary focus is with Kansas City right now, but curious as to whether or not there is dialogue.

I would think there might be some dialogue, but agree. his focus is on the Steelers right now.

Or you could evaluate them and possibly end up taking some lb’s from somewhere else who are better. The idea that we NEED to take every player who transfers from Bama is mind boggling

I'm sure that thought is predicated more on emotion than logic since there has been a bountiful pipeline of good LB's from Baton Rouge to Tuscaloosa the last 5-6 years.

I would be, those bench riders would waste a scholly

Yeah, no thanks to Lee for the reasons you mentioned.

Lee seems like a great kid (works very hard) but man is he slow.

No interest in either of them. Drew Sanders however would be a huge get

Yes you would. Pull up video of Lee from 2019. He’s just too slow sideline to sideline for the SEC. Routinely got beat by backs on swing passes.

Well I remember this guy laying some wood too. He’s an absolute beast stopping the run. I definitely wouldn’t have him in any base defense but you could easily find a spot for him in packages.
Short yardage, run heavy teams, nickel/dime packages where you could cover him up with an extra safety but he would have to at minimum be able to rush the passer and be disruptive to the QB. I’d just send him to rush the QB if it wasn’t a run play and let him cover a TE or slower type of running back.
There’s no doubt that he could be of some use and as thin as we are right now. If there wasn’t a better option, I’d take him. He’d bring a veteran presence and an attitude to the defense that we are lacking bigly. But like I said if he isn’t even able to be disruptive on pass plays and get pressure then I wouldn’t waste the time. I don’t know enough about him. I trust these coaches. They know what they need. I just hope they can get it asap.

quote:My guess is one of the newly hired but vaguely titled "defensive assistants", Cooks for example, is talking directly and gathering the evaluation info (film) and then passing it on to House acting as a go between.

That seems most efficient considering those assistants are on-campus now and House is juggling two jobs.
