All day my phone has been making the EMS tone and then giving me text updates of weather conditions. I just got one for flash flooding, it's weird its the same sound it makes when its the TV or radio doing it.

A good thing though, if I had no idea what was happening right now.

Mine did that a cpl weeks ago for a flash flood warning. I haven't downloaded anything and it hasn't done it since, which we haven't had any weather since.

I'm glad you ask this because I meant to bring it up on the OT after it happened to me.

I have Verizon btw.

I have Verizon as well. Never installed an app for it, so that makes sense.

The phone company wants you to stay safe and sound; they CARE about you. And your money.

I have verizon and a new S3 so assumed it was with the phone. I guess it is verizon doing the updates.

I'm not complaining. Except about the $120/mo phone bill without unlimited internet.

It is expensive but the service is good. I'm grandfathered in to the unlimited internet though.

Just launch message app, go into settings, emergency alerts and uncheck. Mine started a few weeks ago, gets annoying after a while.
