I grew up near the coast. I can't trust seafood from anywhere this far away from the water.

I'll just find something else in the BR

Lets be a little dramatic....

Not being dramatic. If they close, they will lose a lot of money and their job. It's simple as that.

Running a restaurant and appealing to the masses is not an easy thing to do. I've eaten at Tommy's quite a few times and never had any problems food or service wise and I liked it every time. Haven't been there in a few years though.

Sno's shouldn't be used in the same sentence as good food.

Eta: I know I replied to the wrong person.

Tommy and his family are from the Parish (Chalmette) and own their own seafood docks and seafood processing plants in that area.

I can't really vouch for anyone else in Baton Rouge except maybe Tony's and Randy Montalbano's. Gulf Net and Christian Brothers are good also for what they do.

Food isn't good, it is rather bland
Service was horrific even for an Ascension Parish establishment

I'm not going back (been about 6/7 months) so I could honestly care less if they closed. Maybe if they did it could bring in something better. Hey if they lose their job and business it is because of the product they put out. Same for all the restaurants in the area

I think the stuff that just came through was worse than anything i got yesterday. The wife swears I missed the bad stuff during my midday nap yesterday.

Since we are bashing the locals, What's everybody's thoughts on Galvez seafood?

I ate there once and thought it was pretty good. I would eat there more if it were closer.

ETA: I have never had a bad experience with Tommy's. Most of mine has been pick up orders though.

Same here. I'm surprised the power is still on as easily as I lose it.

I moved back home and don't live in that area anymore.

I never had bad food while there but that's my opinion.

Maybe you should open your own place and show them how to do it.

Rather generic comeback.... I don't cook but I eat food so I can taste when something is rather bland and rubbery for that measure....

I see.

I'm just messing with you. I could care less what your opinion on someone else's place is but I think it's crossing the line when you wish for a place to close.

I ran my own place in Baton Rouge (Off the Hook) and it's not as easy as it seems. You have to appeal to the masses and keep your product consistent with bad workers. Cooks are not the highest paid or most reliable people. Then you have to find a way to make money while you are doing it. A restaurant is a hectic environment and you probably wouldn't understant it unless you worked in one. I know I didn't before I had my place.
