So what do you guys think people's chances of getting some help are this time around?

It seems inspectors must look at your property before making a determination, making it seem that if you have insurance you are SOL for doing the right thing. Anyone have some FEMA stories to share so far?

From what FEMA told me, they will assist in any out of pocket expenses you have. Rather it's shortages from your ins. company or storage rentals.

Interesting. What about evacuation expenses or expenses which would not warrant a claim (i.e. under 2K)?

Just curious. thanks for the info

Coworker told me FEMA will cover the deductible of the insurance if the damage is below the deductible? Does that sound right?

My hurricane deductible is like $7500 and I lost a bunch of shingles. Waiting to get it looked at. But if I had to replace roof, it would probably be ~$5000, so all out of pocket anyway.

I searched and found this

good info thanks

that was my main curiosity, since most of us down in SELA have such enormous deductibles I would hope that this disaster assistance might kick in for just that reason

shingles missing is such a pain in the arse

Aren't you supposed to get a letter first from your insurance company declaring the damages are blah, blah, and not enough to meet your deductible? Then show that to FEMA? That's how the link makes it sound.

Yeah I looked at your link....but as soon as I applied a FEMA inspector contacted me and came out to look over my property. Checked my insurance information, and off he went.

Guess I will be paying for all those shingles
