Been starting my plants from seeds with a small single fluorescent bulb grow light setup for several years. Tomato seedlings end up being leggy, which tells me they need a better light source.

Lots of options with LED grow lights online that aren't too expensive, so considering a switch.

Anyone have any experience with LED bulbs over fluorescent?

Joe Lamp'l did a podcast you could find on them. I used a little cheap one from amazon myself but another issue for legginess is putting a fan on them and/or touching them at least once a day for them to trigger their growth/reaction

Careful with the fan blowing from one side it will push them all to one direction

Good point. The last couple of seasons I put a fan on them. Didn't help at all. I'm probably going the Amazon route for lights, and buying a metal storage rack from Sam's to use as a dedicated setup so l can get my work bench back.

I do it every year with reg T8 bulbs. Mine are on a chain and just keep the light about 1 inch above the plants. ALso, with the warn weather just move them outside and bring it a night if it gets too cold.

For on the cheap mix cool white fluorescent bulbs with soft white. You'll end up with both red and blue wave lengths or grow lights... don't ask me how I know, but it use to work well. Adds just the right amount of heat. Alternating them in a 4 light fixture works well.

eta ..oops overlooked LED - but will just let this stay anyway

Weird, it tells me you're likely using the wrong color spectrum

I have one of these:

I definitely could've made one for cheaper, but I've been happy with it.
