Planting a Weeping Willow

Anyone ever planted one? Any tips on making it droop over in the direction you want it to? Just stakes and pull it slightly in your direction?
I have the directions on how to plant it (hole size and depth, back fill with potting soil, watering) etc.
Just curious if anyone had any other tips from experience.

i would not plant one. You will have branches all over the place anytime the wind blows

Planted one closer to my pond last year and is just turning green. Never had one before so I will soon find out. Surely it can't be as bad as bamboo or crape myrtles.

I have experience being around mature Willows, just not planting them and growing them. I don't have any complaints at all about them.

My dad always said If you plant a willow tree someone in your family will die when it’s branches touch the ground.
