Anyone else get this right around summer for about a week? Just come out of the blue and are gone a week later. Not sure what's going on.

More than a week at my house. During the summer it's a pain.

About a month every year they are everywhere. I put up the fly bags outside and it helps.

We tend to have this problem earlier on in the summer when it’s still not too hot to be sitting out back with the grill going. All the in and out lets them in. Once it gets too hot to enjoy sitting outside we don’t notice them anymore because we aren’t constantly opening the back door.

these damn things are everywhere. I have one of those little lights with sticky stuff. It gets some but cant keep up. I put the dangling sticky strips. Nada. Boiling water and bleach down the drain didnt work. Driving me crazy!

This stuff works pretty good. Don’t spray it around doors however because the flies will flock to it and they will enter house. I did that once and had hundreds around the door but hundreds dead on the ground too. Most effective thing I found was to spray it away from entrances and inside around windows and away from counters etc.

More than a week here as well.

Bug-A-Salt and whiskey makes for an entertaining afternoon.

What causes them to show up? Any ideas?

yes, insects are more active in warm weather.

If you have trash, that attracts them, food in your drains, and dogs that shite around the yard.

They are coming inside your house to lay eggs in a cooler environment. Then they just stay there eating your garbage.

quote:

Eliminate their food sources.
Seal up cracks around buildings.
Encourage natural predators like birds, bats, and frogs.
Trap the flies with cone traps or resin sticks.
Use fans as a deterrent.
Light candles since smoke is a repellant.

I put these behind trees in the corners of my yard (they smell AWFUL) and they collect what must amount to thousands of flies.

The things literally fill up solid with flies. It is very gross, but I have to think they are helping if that many flies are now removed from the Earth.

I go through one of these bags a week. I replace them on trash day to put it straight in the trash can in case the bag opens up.
