Tried running hot water this morning and nothing, no flow.

Have a tankless water heater.

Thoughts? Picture for reference. Yes the unit is outside (previous owner).

Did you drip water last night? If so, the hot or cold side?

Unfortunately cold only.

Could one of those lines on the outside right there just be frozen?

Same here. Stupid setup, can heat water but can't stop itself from freezing. Who designed this?

More than likely the problem even though the lines are insulated.

Could be frozen at the valves, they don't look insulated. I have a Rinnai tankless outside, but I put it in their box. The entire heater and valves are in the box, and insulated. No issues last night (17*) and it's on the North side. Try thawing out the valves on the bottom.

Will turn off the gas and water right there and put a propane heater underneath.

Some of the newer ones have "freeze protection", but no one seems to comment on how well it works.

Some of it isn't insulated. I can see it in the picture.

Hit it with a heat gun for a few minutes. Have a little stream now.

Back in business. Glad to see my harbor freight heat gun get some more use after using it once 4 years ago.

Thank you all.

I need to figure a way to insulate those valves.

I had this happen last year at my MILs house. Try opening the relief valve on the heater. When I did this water started flowing activating the heater which thawed the problem.

Curious if there is any insulation on the inside where the valve goes through. Not sure if that part could freeze or are these designed to be outside in cold temps?

There is a crawl space entrance upstairs where I thought I could see the pipes come in but it looks like they may be below the floor. I couldn't get all the way back there because of the AC unit.

Talking about inside of here. Is this protected from freezing temps?

They make “tees” out of the foam insulation that you can order.
Or you can wrap them with dish style towels like I do. No big deal, I leave them on all year. Haven’t had a problem since.

This is exactly why I ran the dishwasher on an extra scrub cycle this morning at 0400h. This happened to a buddy of mine a few years ago.

Leave one of the faucets dripping.
