What do you have?

In Arizona we had this dialed in well. Back home now in CenLA. We have a Hummingbird/Wildflower mix about 2 weeks into growth, hibiscus, lantana, impatiens...

FYI,

Lantana is toxic to dogs.

This. Mine will go to these plants before any other plant of feeder.

I had bottle brush when living in Gulf coast Alabama, but they will not grow here in NW Arkansas. The hummers loved them. I just bought a package of wildflower seeds to see if they work.

Before the freezes nuked my neighbors bottle brush tree, it would look like a beehive of hummingbirds at times.

How much of it? We've got some lantana but our dog is 60lbs

Not to go off on a tangent but I hate how shitty the guidance is on stuff like that. You go to a website and it's like WebMD on meth. "your dog looked at a lantana plant? Instant kidney failure, jaundice, labored breathing, and usually death. We rate this plant as mild to moderate toxicity"

There's probably not a residence/business in Phoenix that doesn't have lantana

Hummingbirds love my lantanas. I never knew they were toxic to dogs. Luckily, my dog is a carnivore.

I don't know. We had a small dog that ate it and nearly died. Not sure how much she ate.
There are 3 common plants around here that are the most toxic:

Lantana
Saga palms
Oleander

Main ones (honey bees and bumblebees also work them over as well)

Amistad Salvia (perennial)
Firecracker Plant (Cuphea hybrid Vermilloinare) perennial
Pineapple Sage (perennial)
Coral Honeysuckle Vine (perennial)

Others

Lantana
Bottlebrush
Turks Cap

Probably some others I’m forgetting at the moment.

My wife tried these last year and they did not grow. If I can get some of the rocks out of part of my lot next door I plan on planting some wildflowers.
