Freeze Miser faucet dripper

Just thought I'd pass this along. These things activate when the water in the spigot hits 37deg and adjusts as it gets colder/warmer. Pretty damn good idea.
Home Depot has them for around $25 a piece. A little pricey, but good piece of mind for outdoor spigots.

I’ve wondered if they work. Seems like a great concept.

I've been getting the ads as well. Seems like a good idea, I found some reviews that said about half actually work.
But I have no first hand reviews or anything.

I tested by putting in the freezer for a while then connecting. Worked like it should.

Does it start dripping at 37? Curious as to why and not lower. I would think closer to 27 would be ideal.

Water freezes at 32F and you need a temperature buffer since this is a mass produced product and not something that is calibrated.

Right, figured something like that but I doubt your faucet will stop working at 32 or your pipe busting near there. But makes sense. If it's off by 10f

Uncle has a mess of them on his farm. He's had good experience with them.

Got them on my house, dribbling away and it's 11F here right now.

Is it a on/off at 37 degrees or does it start there and build up as the temperature drops? If it works on metallic contraction then it may need to start at 37 to be open enough at 32 to prevent freezing. You also need a lot more flow at 20 degrees than 32 to keep one from freezing.

It will open more as the temp drops. I've used them starting last year in BR.

Interesting, they have a full warranty, but only for the replacement of the product itself, not for any damage caused by it malfunctioning
I put 2 on my Camp this weekend, hoping they work as advertised

Bummer, I absolutely would have picked up a couple.

I’ve found them on Amazon, Lowe’s and Home Depot

I was looking for something at hand, not to order and arrive next week. Does me no good if I couldn't go pick one up today.

Same concept of auto drip function the safety shower/eyewash stations I've seen in chemical plants.

Lowes and Home Depot
When I checked Home Depot online, it listed, but when I clicked "in stock in stores" it doesn't show any. I don't want to drive around randomly looking.
I did go ahead and order a pair, should be shipped by Friday 1/19. That's actually faster than Amazon listed, and we're getting another freeze this weekend. Amazon told me no sooner than the 25th
For those that use them, do you put them directly on the faucet, or at the end of a hose?
Do you put in a Y and leave them on, or do you just put them on when the weather is getting cold?
How often do you replace them? I see 2 year warranty, I could see doing them every year just to be safe.

I'm so happy whomsoever plumbed my house installed shutoff valves to each of the outdoor faucets that are deep inside the house and are reachable in the basement.

You can search by zip code with either store. Just enter your zip code and it’ll show you the inventory
