Anyone else get selected for the roofing grant? Im in round 3 and haven't heard any word or update about it since November. Last I heard was that only 5 or so people are working to process the grants.

I applied during November as well, inspector said that he believes I would be accepted without a doubt. Still in the reviewing stage from LFHP, thinking about giving them a call soon. I need a new roof, like last year.

I've given them calls and give them my application number each time. They say they are going to call me back with an update and I've never gotten a call from them. 2 weeks ago I called and they said it should be at least another 2 weeks to a month

I went through the process and just got my fortified roof certificate and email from the website that the grant money was being sent to my roofer.

I was one of the first applications.

I found the best way to communicate was by leaving a message on the roof grant website. But, that took awhile to get responses most of the time.

It was a slow process that wasn’t well explained.

Not to hijack the thread but over the summer I did my roof to fortified standards...galvanized ring shank nails, 5/8" ply deck, Grace Ice and Water shield covering the entire roof deck, 26ga metal roof. Took pics of everything and have recipts. Looks like it will be impossible to get credit for having the fortified so I can get a break on insurance. Has anyone dealt with this?

That was standard material in the roof replacement we did this last spring. It was an OC roof done by a company based in Lafayette. Platinum manuf warranty. Competitive price.

I'd email this website - LINK / and see if there is any way to retro certify a roof as fortified.

I'd think you could get a home inspector that does fortified to do this.

if your in the NO area, call Marc Orgeron at 21st Century Home Inspections - LINK / as i'd bet he'd know.

I was in phase 3 as well. I did get a message last week via email that shows they pulled my Homestead Exemption from JP but that was it.

Anyone have an idea what’s the average cost of a fortified roof? Approximately 2100sf of roof

Glad you asked, I'm also curious about cost for the fortified roof. I'm not even sure of the area of my roof, but house is approx. 1450 sq ft. Got to love needing a roof replaced on my first ever home after 3 years of owning it. Thank you Hurricane Ida and F you progressive for screwing me afterwards!

I'm in the contractor selection phase so I am only repeating whats been told to me by a few contractors but what they're initially seeing is that many people assume the grant would cover the entire roof but for alot of people, 10K isn't enough so they are foregoing the grant because they don't want to pay.

That said, the cost will vary based on your current roof. I have 1x slats for my decking so i'd need to pay extra for plywood. My 1300sq ft house is getting quoted around 14K.

I heard the same thing from my inspector. Had a bunch of people sign up and then when they found out they have to come out of pocket for anything over 10k drop it.

I got a very low quote from Ben Murphy roofing out of Alabama. The owner said they were called in by the state to help provide some guidance. I've gotten quotes from 13000( Ben murphy) to near 19000 (pelican roofing). That is for 2900 sq feet of roofing.
