Anyone order one of those kits from Amazon that works with your drill? If so how good does it work?

Any other cleaning kits anyone recommends?

I know "call the man"........

I want to do it myself.

I used one once. I had about 16 feet of flex duct to go through with a 90 degree turn halfway through. I cut it at the turn to get each way. Lost the brush at some point and had to make another cut to retrieve it. In total I spent over an hour squatting and balancing on rafters in the attic. 2 years later it was clogged again. I called the man to run a new duct straight to the roof.

My dryer vent is a 25-30' straight run up thru the roof so I don't have some of the obstacles most have but still thinking

To answer your original question though, it definitely worked. I'm sure when i lost the brush it was because i'm a dumbass. With a straight run you may not have any of the problems i had. My issues were mostly because it was the old flex tube, too many turns and stepped on in areas from previous owners...it was a mess.

Sounds like it.

Pretty sure (more assumption than anything else) is that the 25-30' of straight vent is rigid, not flex so it could be easy peasy.

Thanks for the info

Blow it out with an battery powered leaf blower from the inside out.

The “youre telling me for 40 years” guy on instagram had success with the leaf blower method.

This with a damp rag at the end of the nozzle and the duct. Helps seal it a little better.

Just got my stubby nozzle for my Ego 765cfm blower. Perfect setup.

I used a gas blower at my son's house.

The vent was through the roof and the lint made a nice cloud.

Since my vent is a straight run I ordered one of those drill attachment kits.

I bought the Gardus RLE202 LintEater and an additional 12' extension kit from Amazon a year ago. That gave me 24' total length for the drill attachment.

It worked great. My dryer is located in the basement in an interior room. The 4" metal dryer duct is right at 23' long and has two 90° turns and one 45° turn before exiting through the outside wall. When we bought our house, I discovered the prior owner apparently had never cleaned it in 20 years and it was basically almost totally clogged.

The LintEater worked perfectly with my Rigid 12 gallon shop vac and cordless drill. I collected a ton of lint, approximately 10 gallons of it. I'm surprised the house hadn't burned down before.

It's been a year so time to do this again. Thanks for the reminder.

I have something similar that I bought and used on mine with no issues, though it's a solid vent that runs practically straight up to the roof.

It was pretty easy. Hardest part was just pulling the dryer out and unattaching and reattaching the dryer vent hose.

A few tips you might want to also do:

1) Wrap a short piece of duct tape around each of the flexible rod extension connections before you push the rotating brush into your vent. This just gives you an extra level of protection to prevent any of the connections from coming apart in the event you accidentally run your drill in the wrong rotation. The last thing you want is for the brush and rods to come apart and stuck in your vent. As long as you run your drill in the correct rotation (at all times), you are good as the rods are always trying to tighten to each other. If you accidentally reverse the drill the rod extensions will want to screw apart. Your primary thought through the whole process is "Do Not Run The Drill In The Wrong Direction!"

You will use a round 4" adapter on the exposed vent to connect your shop vac hose. There is a separate hole in the adapter for the 1st rod brush to go through. You'll clean as far as the 1st rod reaches and then stop your drill and screw on another rod extension. Duct tape that connection before reconnecting your drill and pushing the spinning brush in further. Keep repeating this process.

2). When you push each rod extension in, I would push and pull the spinning rod in a back and forth motion the whole way, so that the brush gets more time cleaning the duct to maximize scrubbing off any stuck on lint.

3) Have someone be outside to let you know when the brush pops out. I didn't have anyone, but I set up a security camera temporarily to monitor the outside dryer vent, and I used my phone to watch the brush come out of the vent

It’s not rocket science, I’ve used them before and guess what. They use that same equipment, seriously. Put a blower on the inside with the drill and then a shop vac on the outside so you get air both ways. Works great.

I get nervous and tape the sticks together that go inside so they don’t unscrew, but it’s probably not necessary.

To the "use the blower" fans; I can't.....just take my word for it and it's too "wordy" to explain.

It'll work.

Just remember what it says on one of the pictures..."Turn to the right only". Otherwise you will unscrew the brush on the end and it's stuck.
