To answer your original question though, it definitely worked. I'm sure when i lost the brush it was because i'm a dumbass. With a straight run you may not have any of the problems i had. My issues were mostly because it was the old flex tube, too many turns and stepped on in areas from previous own...

I used one once. I had about 16 feet of flex duct to go through with a 90 degree turn halfway through. I cut it at the turn to get each way. Lost the brush at some point and had to make another cut to retrieve it. In total I spent over an hour squatting and balancing on rafters in the attic. 2 years...

Any time I'm cooking stews, beans, soups I'm making enough to eat that night and fill 2 or 3 gallon ziplocks to have for the next several months whenever it comes up on the rotation.
My freezer looks like the John Folse section at the grocery store...and something I get irrationally proud about....
