My fence is in really bad shape since hurricane Gustaf paid us a visit. Will start calling around for estimate on Monday. Does anyone have an idea the cost per foot on putting up a new fence.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

What all needs to be replaced? Need new posts and stringers?? Does the job include tearing down the old fence?

Too little info in your post.

You can do that yourself and save thousands. It's not hard at all to do. Especially if you have good posts and all you're doing is hanging 2X4's and fence boards. Hell, the hardest part about doing the post is pulling the old one out, but all you need is a farm jack and a chain to do that.

I fixed about a 30’ section of my fence (cedar) a couple of months ago. It was ~$600 for the materials. I replaced it myself.

Just for materials and if you don't get anything above the base grade stuff.

You’re probably looking at about $30-$35 per linear foot.

Not as cheap as it used to be, but could save a lot of money doing it yourself. Definitely doable and not too difficult if you have a friend to help out. You just picked the worst time of year to do that kind of work though.

No shite. All those pleasant months from November to early May and he's looking to get it done during the summer.

A buddy and I put up about 100ft. Less than two full days. The main posts were still good. So made it real easy.
I have a nail gun, I used coated ring shanked nails. Screwed in the 2X4 runners. Easy runs. I also have a dump trailer and a place to dispose of the old fencing. We cut the fence in 4’ sections, easy to throw into my trailer.
